Hey guys, I'm hearing a strange noise that I can only describe as a whine. I can even feel a bit in the gear **** when I let the clutch out in second gear. It goes away quickly and it doesn't happen in any other gears. It's not a gear crunch as it goes into gear ok. It's 07 Z06. Any ideas? I'm about to lose my mind, lol

I feel and hear the same thing in my '08 Z06. Happened recently, and mostly in 2nd gear but sometimes feel it in 1st as well. Almost feels like chalk on a chalkboard, and I feel no impact on performance. I have not had it looked at yet and would be interested to hear others feedback.

Seriously, I have not experienced this, but you may want to change the tranny and dif fluids. There are good instructions in the DIY sticky thread at the top of this forum.

I agree with Dave. Check the trans fluid ASAP.

I ranger method-ed the clutch just in case. I parked it as soon as I heard it last week. I drove it yesterday and I noticed the trans was shifting normally and the sound doesn't happen till the car is hot and it only happens once in a while. Doesn't feel like the trans but I'm going to change the fluid anyway. I'm leaning towards TO bearing or torque tube.
