If I bought an other corvette I'd really look over the under carriage. My rockers were badly damaged.

Mine still had the original tires on due to low mileage the tread wasn't toast, but the tires age out and don't grip. Plan for new tires (2k) Other than that if you don't know what your looking at take it to a dealership and have them do a pre purchase inspection.

A 15 year member asking advice on buying a Vette... well let me say it’s a good time to be shopping for a C6 ZR1 as prices have dropped a little since the new ZR1 has come out. I purchased my 2010 about a year ago and might have paid a little more BUT am very happy with it.
Im sure you already know the usuals... but dont forget to google the vin number and check each page that pops up. I was looking at one and on page 7 it was in a police auction without an engine! It did not show this on the Carfax...
Good luck with your purchase. Its an amazing car and tons of fun!

If it's a 3ZR check the top of the dash for the infamous separation. I didn't notice it on mine until after I bought it and it's a very expensive fix. HVAC controls are known to go out on C6 models, that's cheap and easy.

Obviously check the history of the car, panel gaps, evidence of repairs, maintenance history, fluid levels, etc... just like any used car.

They're great cars. Find the right one, buy it and don't look back!

check rotor weights

check for vibration around 70 mph

dash and tires as mentioned above

check the clutch fluid, if it's black, Ranger method.

Check the front splitter and side skirts for repairs and/or if they are original.

Feel under the windshield wiper cowl near the corners of the blower. You are looking for holes drilled in the cowl. If the blower has been off (non-GM dealer work) it will most likely have holes drilled in the cowl for easier access to the two rear corner blower bolts.

check for rips or tears in the main wiring harness boot under the glovebox (most likely area for nitrous lines, wide bands etc.

Check all four shocks for signs of leakage

Have the car inspected by a well qualified technician.

Reference "Check for vibration around 70 mph." I felt the vibration on the steering wheel at around 70 MPH on the '10 I test drove. No vibration on my '12 ZR1 as it has balancing weights on the front rotors. Correcting the vibration isn't cheap.

Check the car fax first. See if the car has been in for body work or at the dealer for warranty work. Make sure the oil pressure is good and make sure the blower isn't making and funny noises.
Also, check the brakes. They are expensive to change and you don't want to flip that bill right after you buy the car. Same with the tires.
