Default For all the Royal Purple haters

what’s up guys , wanted to share with you my results with swapping my transmission fluid in my 08 Zo6 this weekend . I know when it comes to motor oil, trans fluid, rear end , brake fluid etc . There’s a lot of personal preference and opinions. But opinions are like butt holes everyone has one ,this is actually real life results .
I’ve owned the car for 5 years absolutely love it cars a beast makes 615rw Na 780rw 150shot . My friend turned me on to Amsoil 2 years ago (bc he was a dealer) so I jumped on the Amsoil train .I switched every fluid in car to Amsoil. Zrod motor oil, Torque drive tranny fluid , severe gear rear end fluid . Anyway I been experiencing last few times I drove the car and raced it . I could not engage 3rd gear for the life of me on a high rev shift .( a lot of bounces the rev limiter) drove me crazy lol . Prior to that I Also would always get a slight grind (when cold) going into 5th gear.
First thing I did when this all started happening I bled my clutch fluid Thur speed bleeder . Still was having the issue . I didn’t think to change trans fluid being that I just did a fluid change with Amsoil Torque Drive and only had one track rental with about dozen passes. And couldn’t hit 3rd a few times there.
So I’m thinking well time to pull tranny out and send it off to Rpm transmission, probably synchros . But I said what do I have to lose let me try a different fluid . So I bought Royal Purple Synchromax , and to be honest I always wanted to try it bc I could get it easily at my local auto part store. I Couldn’t believe it !!! The difference in the shifts and how smooth the tranny is now . I raced over a dozen cars on Sunday 3rd went in like butter. Even 5th gear doesn’t grind anymore . It’s Crazy! Royal Purple > Torque Drive !

I prefer Pennzoil Synchromesh but it's amazing what a fluid change will do sometimes.

This^
I went to a 10w30 synthetic motor oil in my jeeps 5sp. manual, and it made a big difference for the better.

I switched to Royal Purple on my C5 years ago and noticed the same thing. Better shifting and trans whine went away. Use it in my Z06 now. Welcome to the Club.

I put RP in my C5Z tranny, engine and diff. Noticeable positive difference in shifts. I put 64K miles on it before I traded it for my ZR1. Never had an engine issue. I changed from RP 5W-30 HPS oil to 0W-40 HPS in the ZR1. Have not been able to get on lift or to a pit to do tranny and diff oil change to RP Synchromax and 75W-90 gear oil, respectively.

I have used RP products since 1995 in anything where metals rub each other with no failures.

Replaced my C6Z's transmission fluid with Royal Purple and now my transmission chatters after the car is heated up to normal operating temps.

I suspect there's a difference in viscosity between Royal Purple and GM's recommended ATF. I'm going to go back and see if that makes a difference.

I drive GS And tried did not like the Royal purple also. I went back to OEM, runs much better and smoother shifts also.

interesting. I don't Darg Race or crunch gears, but was having trouble grabbing 3rd (only 10k km on the car!) and had just replaced the OE fluid with Amsoil Torque Drive ATF as a matter of course when I bought the car...after all...it was 10yrs old.
This, cold hesitation on both street as well as track, and had banged the limiter on track a few times. So, I bought a MGW shifter. That helped a lot, properly notching into the slots. But I was still getting a bit of cold hesitation on shifts...but no biggie as I baby the car when cold anyway.
And its common with many performance cars...Ferrari, Porsche, etc.
But, after 5yrs and 20k km now, I changed out the Amsoil. It looked, felt and smelled like new BTW, and refilled with Redline ATF D.
The cold hesitation/grind is gone. I've been an Amsoil lover/user for decades, but in this particular application, The Redline seems to be better.
So...just another good option

Royal Purple Synchromax is what RPM sent with my tranny they built and what they highly recommend, and I think they would know what works best for these trannys.

I used Redline D4 ATF in my F-body for a very hard 40k miles, and it always shifted great. The previous owner of my Z06 said that's what he put in it before I bought it, With 112k miles it's shifts awesome too.
