Default Update

I got unpacked in our new house in Chicago and back to work with the Z. I canceled the order with Thomsen Motorsports for the billet intake due to zero progress being made over a period of 5 months, I had to sue him to recover my $2500 deposit. Now that all of that is behind me I'm full speed ahead on finishing the new top end. I bought back my ported Hi Ram lower from Louis at GSpeed. I worked with Dave Visner to make a dual TB adapter for his awesome billet lid. The adapter and lid looked awesome, but after some measuring I found exactly 15 sq in of area in the throat of the inlet, a reduction from the 19.6 sq in I needed for the dual 90s to be optimized. So I took dozens of measurements, and decided to cut the end off and front feed the manifold for dual 90s using a custom 2" plate with generous radii on the inlets. It was not fun cutting a $1400 billet lid, but it's going to be a great piece once it's back together.

I had the Comp valve covers powdercoated a shade of GM orange.

I installed some AMT dropped engine mounts.

And I installed a Torque Rush dual TB controller.

Done like a true professional! It's painstaking but then this is what it takes for optimal results...a lot of people just think you slap a few off the shelf parts together and boom....usually not the case!!! Can't wait for the results!!!

Thanks John! Yeah painstaking is the right word for it. Everything has been a challenge on this!

I modded the radiator shroud to accept the 5” S&B filter from a Powerstroke application. The y-pipe is 5” to dual 4”. I wanted to retain the MAF. I might change this to dual 4” with a dual MAF processor though.

Looks marvelous. Any ETA on getting it running? Also on the 2006 do you need to run the silver TB for car computer or does the controller kind of determine what you can do?

I'd rather not guess on one. There isn't much left. Coolant lines, steam lines, vacuum pump install, new hose for the vacuum pump to the valley cover, fuel lines, belts, reinstall the AC condesner and high pressure line, wire in the cooling fan, bolt the collectors back up to the exhaust, reinstall the sway bar. Make sure the new intake fits well.

Josh,

Hard to tell in the pictures but what is the difference in height you see from the stock motor mounts to the AMT ones? I want a set of AMT's but with my MSD manifold I cannot afford to go any higher than my old stockers.

Manifold looks fantastic, going to be a monster sir!!

Tim
