This should be very interesting on how the numbers turn out from the program to real life. Looks like desktop dyno has come a long way, I like all the variable inputs.

FWIW, the program Da_Z06 uses was within 1hp from what my car made when he plugged in the numbers.

Busted out the degree wheel and locked down the timing at 113* ICL. Advanced 1*.

Can the timing be adjusted in 1/2° increments? Just curious because 1 1/2° would put you right in the middle of the peak numbers on the calculated dyno results.Or does the cam chain stretch etc. move the timing toward the 2° direction?

I wonder if mezzarie will come out with an LS water pump with the hose on the other side like the 2009 and later cars so the pesky water pump hose isn't in the way of the intake tube (also heats up intake tube). Of course with your high ram not so much of an issue.

The Hex A Just cam sprocket I use can be infinitely adjusted +/- 6*, so half a degree is no problem. I went with 1* advance based off most of the feedback, but you're right too. 1.5* would be nice as well, but the red loctite is on the bolts and torqued down so I'll just leave it at 1*.

Yup, would be nice if it were on the driver side like 2009 and later cars. I use a thermal sleeve on the radiator hose to combat this. Oh, you were right about the cam sensor. Mine was ballooned and had to be broken out in two chunks. Like $20 for a new AC Delco replacement.

I read where there is a procedure once the cam sensor is replaced that involves bring the engine to fuel cutoff or something like that. Is this true? I wouldn't want to have to do that on a beast of an engine like yours.

Crank relearn. Slowly and smoothly go to WOT until fuel cut.

That's a lot of rpm with no load. Thank you for confirming. I feel I should replace the sensor in my 2009 due to age alone.

Looking great!

This thing is going to be a beast and we are just overly excited to see it alive and causing panic!

Piston to valve radial clearance was too low, .048”. PTV axial was around .240”. So I did not need to flycut necessarily, but I needed more radial. So I decided to sand roll the intake valve reliefs with a 2” sanding drum on my die grinder.

Final radial clearance came out to .137”, so plenty of room for things to move at high rpm.

Ordered up some Trend 7/16” 8.700” .165” wall pushrods.

Its going to start coming together fast now. Getting excited.

Josh do you think it was the heads themselves or are you running a 2.25 valve which may have been more of the issue?

The valve location moved 0.080” with the All Pros. Valve grew .025” radially.
