Default Short throw shifters

Picked my bone stock ZR1 up today and noticed what everyone else said. The shifter is sloppy. I ran a B&M in my C5Z and it was good. What do y’all say for this new car?

MGW is the only way to go. No debate.

I had a Hurst in my C5, it was pretty easy to install. Is it about the same for a C6 Z?

Just watched the MGW install video. It has a few more steps than the Hurst did in my C5, but looks pretty easy, unless you are all thumbs, like my brother. He doesn’t have a Corvette and doesn’t even know about the forum, so I can safely say this!

I have an MGW and love it. Better shifting and easy install.

WELCOME!! MGW is the only choice for ZR1s. Be sure to get the shifter and the shifter box mount. The GM box is a POS compared to the MGW.

I don't even think they sell just the shifter anymore. I believe it comes with the lower box automatically now. Mine did.

MGW is unanimously recommended here...so I'd check that out. FWIW, the MTI six-shooter is a nice shifter as well...fits the OE shifter dust boot like stock (no cutting, etc); in the event you find the MGW "complete assembly" to be more than what you wanted to spend.

I believe you're correct because if you use the factory lower box it will still suck just with shorter throws

And another vote for the MGW shifter. One of the best mods I've done to the car.

My used ZR1 actually had a MGW shifter on a GM box in it when I bought it. I did not know that when I bought my shifter as I never experienced a stock shifter. At that time the box was an option. I put the new shifter and box in and sold the old MGW that came with the car. Just thought I would mention it.

Yes before they didn't come with the box.

Is there any advantage to the flat over the round faced?

Can the factory Z06 shift handle thread onto the MGW? For some reason, the website is confusing to me in this respect..........

mine came in Friday and it has everything. Haven’t installed yet for other reasons, but MGW was the hands down only option from what I’ve heard and read.
