I spoke with an MGW rep last week after I ordered mine, I got the “gripper shift ****” as well, I noticed they had all these cool custom topper inserts for mustangs but nothing for vettes so I sent an email asking what gives.....apparently GM hasn’t yet or won’t release the rights for them to make any, she said they are trying to work the issue but no time line was given. What’s the damn deal GM!! Get with it!! A Jake skull or C6 Flags or a ZO6 topper would look damn good!

Wife and I have three Vettes, A 99 Coupe with a MGW, a 02 C5 Z with a stock shifter (rebuilt my me) and a C6 Z 06 with a MGW !!!! day to day driving the stock shifter sucks !!!! (must stay stock for A-Street Auto-X) we have the flat sticks in both cars and love the look !!!!

I use the B&M shifter. It's between stock and a MGW. I love it.

No. They use their own shaft that accepts the stock **** if you so choose.

OP, I've run the following shifters in my cars (not all corvettes):
Steeda Tri-Ax
Pro 5.0
Hurst
B&M
MGW

The best I have run is the MGW. It's beautifully engineered, easy to install, and functions as advertised. Yes it's pricey...but you get what you pay for. Their reputation on this board is not hype. It's a solid product.

If you go with anything besides the complete MGW, you can add my box to it for $125.00 whatever you do don't neglect your box.

I have a core shifter and I love it. Swapping to your shifter box this weekend. At 60k miles I’m sure it’ll make a big difference. I will report back as soon as I get some seat time!

MTI 6 shooter for the last 7 years works very good uses the stock lower box. I did put some better bushings in the lower box. The shifter is a little taller than the MGW.

I get a kick out of these replies. No denying MGW is a great shifter. I bought a track Z 06 this spring that had 6 figure money thrown at it. To my surprise it has a Callaway shifter. I was blown away by the tight shift box and total lack of any slop. On my first real drive one of my Corvette buddies and I were amazed to hear click click everytime I shifted. It is absolutely the picture of precision. I have no idea why it isn't more commonly known. If you haven't considered it you have left out the best candidate I could name for the job.
I took the car to Corvettes at Carlisle and let several people shift it. It was almost comical to watch. Every person would shift it once, look at the shift handle, and say "Holy S--t". It was as if it was on cue. Three of them immediately went to the Callaway booth and bought one for their cars. One of the three already was using a MGW. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying in any way to diminish what the MGW's can do. I am merely stating the Callaway shifters seem to be an undiscovered secret. I am in the process of one by one replacing the shifters on my three other C6's with Callaway's. They run a little over $400.
Check it out. If you live near Old Saybrook, CT send me a PM and I'll let you test it.
Keith
