Oil change in Bay Area
Hi All,
I need an oil change on my new Vette and reluctant to do it myself for the first time. Can you please recommend a good place in Bay Area to do so (I live in San Jose CA)? How much should it cost?
Thanks in advance,
RS

I'd be much more reluctant to let any lube shop put their hands on it. It is fairly easy, and there are very detailed YouTube videos to get you comfortable. If you have ramps, I'm willing to drop by and guide you through it (I'm in West SJ).

While the vehicle is under warranty and GM is giving you free services, I would highly recommend taking the car to a dealer so that everything is documented. Every once in a while maintenance history comes into play with warranty work and knowing you won't have issues down the road is worth it.
If we can help you take care of the car, please shoot me a PM or email and we can set an appt.

Another vote here for Abel Chevrolet. Totally worth the drive. Rich and his crew are the best. People drive from much further than San Jose to Rio Vista to get their Corvette worked on.

Thanks everyone!
Abel Chevrolet is a bit of a drive, but will keep them in mind for major works. The car is "new" for me, but it is pre-owned and out of the warranty period.
What are thoughts on taking it to the dealer? they will charge money but do they do a good job?

The ONLY Dealer to take your Corvette to is ABEL..... If you care about your car, many horror
stories on this forum about other dealers including thefts from dealer lots.

Rupam, Pineapple on these local forums is located in San Jose and He welcomes over corvette owners. He posted a forum awhile back asking if anybody needed help installing or with maintenance. Multiple people took him up on his offer and he has ramps... crap talking to him he made me do all my own maintenance and ended up doing the MGW shifter because of him. I bought the quick jack hydraulic lift. it forced me to get out of my comfort zone and do everything for my first time. from oil/trans/brakes/tires/new stereo. now I rather do everything myself because I have OCD and I know ill torque stuff correctly and ill be careful around the car. but for Local SJ. Pineapple. shoot him a message or do a search and find his thread. hes awesome. Im in brentwood. I gotta get my car off the tender. maybe ill head out to San Jose one day.

on a second thought. in terms of dealerships. I don't care where your located. Abel is the only dealership you should ever consider. they specialize in corvettes and prices are actually better than other chevy dealerships. rich and his wife both have a vette. and they go fast. real fast.

Drifting
If you are physically able, PLEASE do it yourself. It's no more difficult than any other car. Here's my video that goes over the process in a very detailed fashion. There are WAY too many horror stories on this forum of even competent dealerships completely messing up a simple oil change on our dry sump cars.

I am getting convinced more and more to do it myself or go to Abel for anything complicated
