Default Kooks LT Headers Regrets?

Hey Guys,

I have a set of Corsas on my car and love the sound and am looking to get even more. Engine is stock. Considering Kooks LT headers with catted x-pipes. Anyone else have this setup on their Z? Any regrets?

thanks!

Yeah, I purchased brand new Kooks 2" LTs w/ catless O/R in February from a forum vender. Shop install in March. They didn't fit the car, the collector hit the bell housing. Kooks shipped the headers back to their factory, where they advised that they "mostly" fit the jig. This required pulling teeth; if my shop hadn't installed dozens of sets they would have just stuck to the fact that they thought there was installation error. Kooks claimed to have made repairs to allow them to fit, but the collector still hit the bell housing. My tech had to fabricate to prevent contact. Kooks didn't care at all or make any apologies to the shop for undue labor and wasted bay space, or to me for having my car down for two weeks for something that should have taken two days.

Go ARH.

Honestly never been impressed with Kooks. 3/5 I've installed on various cars had some sort of small interference. The other 2 did not but both were INCREDIBLY close to the frame rail or bellhousing in the case of my old c6. If I had to buy kooks I would honestly save some money and buy a cheaper header for the same fitment

with that said I normally buy ARH for my personal cars and the fitment is always right on. And if there are any issues Nick and the guys are very easy to work with

I installed the Kooks 1-7/8 with catted pipes last month and everything was fairly smooth aside from the transmission line being very close to the header. I ended up bending it slightly and wrapping it with some heat tape. All else is good.

I'm running Kooks 1-7/8 headers (w/ cats) on my '06 and I'm happy with them. I didn't have any clearance issues with the frame or trans. The kit came with a little bracket of sorts to keep the trans lines away from the header - a bit hokey but it works. I do have one plug wire that is too close to a primary but a little heat tape seems to be keeping it safe - going to a different wire style would be a better long term solution but it's been fine for a few thousand miles.

My only minor regrets are not getting them coated and not investigating if a 2" header would be worthwhile on an otherwise mostly stock LS7 - neither of those are Kooks' problem. The price was good and the quality was very good.

This, exactly..

I just couldn't justify the additional cost of going with ARH's, compared to what I paid for the Kooks (and I have heard of some clearance issues with AHR's). Coating was / is expensive and a hassle with time and shipping, but that is something I'd probably do if I had to do it over again (and may still do). And the 2" deal is on my mind as well, but then that can only make any clearance issues worse, so I'll probably just stick with what I have.

I have Kooks 1 7/8 and they fit great! Also coated, and well worth it. I have been at car meets where I couldn't put my hand anywhere near uncoated headers on other C6 vettes. WIth my coated setup, I can easily hold my hand right near the header tubes without discomfort. My coating was just the typical jet hot setup, and not the Swain hi-tech coating that is rumored to be even better.
