Default Crack in rear spring

Hello from Sweden
(Sorry for my school english....)

C6 Z06 2008
Today I saw some crack in the rear spring. The cracks are on both left and right side and located on the outside of mount.
Depth of the cracks is har to see, perhaps 1/4 inch
Should I replace the spring?
Has anyone experienced such cracks?

Best regards Lofke

I do not see any indications from your photos that would show a .250 deep crack.....I would have to look closely at my 06 Z....They could , however, be stress indications (cracks). If your are correct, and the depth of the cracks are .250" deep, then you would have a growing problem.... If they are surface indications....then I would just keep an eye on them.......

Thanks, Its really hard to see how deep cracks are. (mm to inch is also hard)
Crack are ap 20% of spring thickness.
Perhaps its best to buy a new spring so I can sleep at night...

Sure does look like it is cracking, I would replace it. Maybe someone else with a similar experience will chime in?

I think those look like surface stress not cracks deep into the spring. I have had and still have a small crack with spring splintering. It has not got worse.
So I would watch it. Does car seem like its getting lower or do you notice any suspension problems. How many miles on them?

Hello

The car has only 15500 miles. Problem is this: I don't think the chassie feels totaly solid (for being a kind of sports-car).
This summer I (workshop and me) have replaced all bushings in the rear whith new harder types, new Bilstein sport shocks, new Michelin Ps4.
New alignment done. Everything under the car is really tight, but when I ,for example, in slow speed, front wheels turning, hit a pothole, I can feel
the whole chase flex. Perhaps it should be like this. I haven't drove another Corvette.
In my search for possible causes, I found the cracks i the spring....

Regards Löfke

i would grind the paint off and make sure its cracked.Looks like it could be the paint on the spring.
