Default Heat shield falling apart

So the heat shield above my torque tube is falling apart.. don't know if I should be worried about it? I was thinking about removing it but I wasn't to sure. Any suggestions?
Has anyone else had this problem

Assuming the intent of the heat shield is to keep the interior cooler, insulation under the carpet is more effective.
IMHO anything that is falling apart needs to be removed.

Do you know what model/manufacturer it is?

It should be replaced, not just removed.

I thought you were talking about the tunnel plate. The OEM tunnel plate is just aluminum sheet. I guess you are talking other insulation.

It looks like both. It has an aluminum sheet about as thick as a sheet of foil on the insulation.. if that makes any sense

My 09 2lz Z06 OEM tunnel plate is sitting in my garage. It just is a sheet of aluminum, no insulation. When I did my HCI work I had a mid-grade Elite Engineering tunnel plate installed. That does have additional insulation.
