Default Fresh C6 Z06 Owner

Well well, I figured this would be a great forum to join in since I'm a new Vette owner. I recently purchased a bone stock......yes, I said bone stock (I know, I'm nervous too) 2008 C6 Z06. She has just under 38,000 miles on her and is in great condition. I couldn't be happier with the car. It is absolutely gorgeous.

Now, I knew right off the get-go about the heads and valves but I still wanted a 100% stock car just so I know no slack job has had there hands in her. I know everyday I pull her out of the garage, I'm taking that risk of a valve dropping and destroying that beauty under the hood....so plans are in the making of getting that "fixed" before the big no-no happens.
But the dealer I bought it from told me over and over, trying to re-assure me, that the heads and valve train are covered for X amount of mileage because of the lawsuit that Z owners filed in 2015. That being said, the "warranty" only stays good as long as the drivetrain is 100% bone stock. Does anyone have any more information on this? Cause the dealer i bought her from insists on it....but my local dealer and even a few buddies that work at GM say they have never even heard of any extended info on the LS7's.

I have tried to go through some previous threads(and multiple searches in google) to get some info on it but I can't seem to find any major or solid information except that the lawsuit was made. Only thing I found was a comment that said they will cover them for 5 years or 100,000 miles.........but is that from the lawsuit or from the manufacturer date?

Anywho, thank you in advance for the welcome! I can't believe I get to own one of these beasts and it puts a smile on my face every time I take her out. Its a head turner for sure.

Your engine compartment looks so clean! What did you use to put the gloss on it?

Congratulations and best of luck with it! Dealer told you a story on the warranty. I bought my 2008 Z06 back in June of 2018 with 25k on it. I can't find an after market warranty company..as soon as I say Z06 they say no.

Great looking car. Have fun with it and enjoy it. I have had mine since 09 and can't stop smiling every time I drive it.
The new heads will cost about $2k installed. Warranty about $5k. So, get new heads and don't worry about it. By the way, there is no GM deal to fix the cars due to a suit that I know of.

Dealer, as always is full of ****. There is no special warranty or added coverage. Law suit hasn't even gone anywhere.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!!

Fml, no...I didnt even think of getting something like that in writing. I never knew of the lawsuit and they were so confident that I trusted their word...well come to find out it seems like total BS. Bummer but no biggie...that just means I can go make more power .

There is a guy in Indiana that tons of people recommend. They say that you can pull the heads off and send it off to him...he will work his magic on it and then you can slap em back on the car and she will be golden. Though, the amount is less in terms of recommendations...some say to just put brand new aftermarket heads.

I'll do some more digging and see what I find to be vetter.

Honestly man, I bought it from the dealer that way! They said thethey got the vehicle on a trade in cause the gentleman wanted a C7....they said they received the vehicle like that soooo. Beats me what was previously used. I certainly plan on keeping it that clean though!

Congrats to the purchase. Car looks great. Forget about the warranty and just have the heads done. Even if they honored this "warranty", it's going to be a giant headache. Especially if it were to fail on the highway at 70mph. Plus you'll always have a bit of worry in your gut. You may even pick up a few ponies. Especially after you put long tubes on it. I mean, might aswell while you're in there....... lol.

Nice Vette! Be patient before you start throwing mods its way, or at least so you are certain of the direction you want to go. You can have the heads fix and still retain OE appearance.

Dealer is 100% full of **** and whoever posted $2k with labor to fix the heads is also highly mistaken. If your doing all the work you can decrease the total bill, if not plan for around 5k for parts and labor assuming you don’t start adding in lots of upgrade options, if you do that you can get well over 5k without labor. Nice car that inferno orange is dope!

Heads can be anywhere from $800 to $18000 to fix depending on labor/parts/etc.

So all C6 Z06s need to be concerned with their Heads? I am looking at a C6 and if I could find a Z06 in my price range I may go that route; however, if the head issue is that big of a concern perhaps I should just stick with the LS3.

VERY NICE Vette you got there! Congratulations! Hope it brings you ton of joy!
