Default ZR1 Drag Radial\Wheel Combinations

Hello all. Hope everyone had a great summer.

I am looking for the current drag radial and wheel combinations that are available now that clear the ZR1 brakes. I would really like to stay with OE or replica ZR1 wheels but open to others as well. I was looking to get MT drag radials but since they have been discontinued so much for that.

So far all I have ran across is a replica ZR1 19 x 12 59mm offset wheel and 345/30/19 NT05R combo. I have seen mixed reviews on the NT05R's and was hoping to get some more options. I could not find any options close to stock size in an 18" setup either.

Thanks for the help.

No exact reps in 18". I have Chrome reps in 19" from Bob at House of Wheels. They are not an exact match, but most will not notice unless you pointed out the difference. I also run the tire you mentioned, 345-30-19 NTO5R. I am at mid to high 7's to the wheel HP wise and absolutely love the tire. My car hooks great from a second gear roll on the street, and really hooks once heated at the track. I have around 8k miles on this set and I'm not at the wear bars yet. I would not want to get caught in the rain, but I don't want to get caught in he rain with any DR. I run mine at 30 psi everyday driving and 18 psi at the track. I have taken my car for short bursts up to 180ish and the car was stable, but not as stable as with the MPSS (not surprising). Micky Thompson's will always hook better and always wear faster than the Nitto's. Toyo R888r's may be a good option is you want to fill the gap between straight line grip and still be able to corner hard.

Thanks for the info. Nice to see some info on the combo working. I seen rumors that MT is supposed to be coming out with a new drag radial that would work for us. Hopefully that happens by next summer.

You have many different options for 18's. I have a set of Forgestars F14's for the track and use CCW C2K's for everyday which look pretty close to stock. Nobody have ever pointed out they look much out of place. Also 18's are much cheaper than 19's and up. Less than $600 for 2 ET Street S/S in P345/35R18 from jegs. IMO NTO5R's are only good until your around 550-600 rwhp and then they are useless.

there are some 18” wheels that clear our brakes. Most are 1000-2000 each. I like the Forgestars and I’ll probably be getting those also. For comparison though I paid 580 shipped for my set of reps. Now about the NTO5Rs. You have obviously never owned a set. When my car 650whp it would stick 1st gear. Now at 750-800whp they still hold 2nd. Are Mickeys stickier? Yes, but they still hook. My next tire/wheel combo will be what you said though, 18” wheel with 35 sidewall and probably MTs.

Maybe I should rephrase and say they are def not useless but night and day difference once I went to 18" MT's. I've actually owned at minimum 6 sets of NT05R's on multiple vehicles from 500-850 rwhp in 17"-19" size. They couldn't hold 1st for crap in my 580 rwhp Z06 but did great from a 2nd gear roll. They are decent tires don't get me wrong especially considering our options but on my ZR1, NT05R 19's would spin in 3rd gear rolls and 18" MT's can handle 1st gear very well.

I got 2 Forgestar F14 18's with MT's for $1380 shipped which from what I've found is the cheapest way to get 18's with DR on a ZR1. The CCW were $1750 shipped for the pair.
