Do some research on the forum, look **** up on the interwebs, when you feel like you seen enough on LS7 heads(fixing yours) or an entirely new set. Pick a top 3 of builders or brands, actually call those three shops or manufactures, let them know your goals and intentions take in what advice or suggestions they offer, swirl that around in your brain for a bit. One of those three you chose will set themselves apart making your decision easy! I did this exact routine. My 3 choices were AHP/Vengeance/LME. I wouldn’t have been wrong going with any of those companies. They all make dope products, parts and tune fast vettes. All three had quick response times and were extremely professional and knowledge way beyond my understanding. AHP imo opinion went just a little further on custom service and for my wants/needs/goals fit perfectly. Lots of amazing shops and companies do sick work on LS7’s, just do some looking around and actually pick up the phone and call these guys, that I can’t stress enough!!! Good luck bro!🇺🇸

My bone stock 2009 Z06 dropped a valve at 5,700 miles. AHP built me a brand new LS7. Stage 4 heads with mold star 90. Bunch of other go fast parts. I just finished putting the new engine in the car. I’m hoping to have a final tune done next week.

New to me 2012 Z06 with 14K miles. Took heads off myself and shipped to AHP. PM guides, reused my valve springs. Stock cam and stock California car. Fast enough for me, really, I mean it...

Did you get a tune after the mil? Is it necessary? I never asked about a quantity of extra hp on a .020 or .030 mil.

only other mod is LG headers which were on the car when I got it.

The short answer is yes it is necessary, the extra compression will lead to increased detonation(knock retard)
I’d suspect with tune the milling is good for about 15hp by itself - but new pushrods will be required which adds to the cost/process.

I know that JesC6Z has experience with the push rods with milled AHP heads as well as tuning on a car that is pretty close to stock.

Better safe than sorry so a tune is always best. Even tho my tuner told me my AFR was rich. Rich afr more likely no detonation. Either way it’s best to calibrate it for sure. Indeed the pushrods should be measured to run the correct size. Comp cams pushrod checker was the perfect tool.

Appreciate the help via text when I was checking for pushrod length my friend

Even tho my afr was rich on the Z I would recommend it Bryan. Better safe than sorry. The engine is too expensive to take that chance. Are you in Texas?

I wanted heads fixed with some extra hp but didn’t want to go too crazy. Had them mil .020 and ported. Put a halltech mf108 on with a street/dyno tune. No cam and stock exhaust. Car made 512/448.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to fix the heads, get a tune and keep the rest stock. I don't see myself wanting/needing more after this is done.

Pulled heads at 3400 miles. Had LMR pull the heads and send them to LME. Had new Manley dual springs, CHE guides and rockers, Ferrea hollow exhaust valves.
I also added a mild Crane cam, headers, and B&B Fusion III exhaust.

08Z already had Akro Evo full system and K&N intake when I purchased it. I went with AHP package 4 heads, hardened powder metal valve guides, Ferrrea SS exhaust valves, milled heads .020, street ported heads. I added B&B headers while I had it opened and kept stock cam.

AHP stage 4 with street porting, 1511 springs, MS90 guides and new lifters. Since they were in there anyways, I also had some Katech parts installed along with a ported MSD intake. Thank you GMPP and Abel Chevrolet.

I just had a local machine shop fix the guides and clean the heads up a bit since I’m planning on Brodix heads later.

Got new GM Performance heads via warranty. Had WCCH check them out and do minor repair. All stock components with new lifters. Sounds and feels smooth .....
