Default Broke a valve

We did some work to a friends car not long ago and a 2 pc valve failed. It made 623hp and 557 torque and lasted around 180 miles.

After doing the same thing 20 or so times it finally worked. The chunks are what’s left of the piston.

Different heads and cam, Mamo MSD intake, NW 102 throttle body, ATI pulley, bigger injectors, Johnson short travel lifters, Tick pushrods, Yella Terra rockers, Halltech cold air intake, American Racing headers, Quarter Master clutch, upgraded oil tank, improved racing oil cooler and thermostat. I’m sure I’m missing some other odds and ends. He was maybe half throttle going about 40 mph. Looks like a bad weld job on the 2 pc valve..... maybe.

hope you guys remembered to install the lash caps on the intake. Or another mistake is installing them on the exhaust side stem. A motor will last roughly that mileage maybe more before it grenades itself

I assume this was a back yard engine modification?

What year C6Z? How many miles on the heads before the rebuild? When the heads were reworked, were the OE exhaust valves re-used, or were they new OE replacements?

Zero regrets for installing F2042p 1-piece hollow stem ex valves in my AHP heads...

No lash caps installed. They are 2pc stainless valves.

2pc valves are friction welded together.

Anyone care to explain 2 piece valves and friction welding? Seems like a horrible idea but I’m sure I could be wrong???? Or maybe not by the looks of the motor, also were no lash caps because these 2 piece valves don’t use them? Or did they get left off accidentally?
