Does akrapovic drone?
I've read several posts about the akrapovic exhaust for the c6z06. Some people say they drone others say they don't.
I currently have a 2011 z06 with an ahp116 cam and ported heads. The factory dual mode drones with the valves open but with them closed it's silent at highway speeds.
What does the akrapovic sound like with the valves closed at highway speeds?

Closed they are truly not bad at all. I am running the VR Kaotic cam, AHP heads, etc... I enjoy driving with then open. Honestly there is some drone ay hwy speeds but then again I had the same drone with my BB Fusions... It is all about preference. I prefer the Akra's on my 08Z....

With the factory manifolds and cats, no drone in the closed position. I added headers and cattless x pipe and there is a little drone in closed position. Open position is freaking loud.
Im saving up for corsa sports with black tips.

I have an H/C/I/E car with no cats and there is definitely some drone in 6th on the highway at low RPM, but it doesn't bother me too much. I don't do much highway driving anyways. Switching to the "mild" mode in these situations almost eliminates drone entirely. I never use mild mode though. It just sounds too good in "open" mode despite the drone. The sound of the Akras can't be beat!
Also, there probably won't be much drone at all if you have stock manifolds.

I think it will be perfectly fine then. I would jump on them if I were you since it seems they are only back for a limited time. You could always sell them if you're unhappy and likely make your money back easily. I don't see that happening though, haha.

I'm around 600 hp and I would be lieing if I said there isn't some drone. It is not bad with the flaps closed AND not lugging the engine in 6th gear at 55. If you keep the rpm's above 3 grand, life is good. I can't recall anyone on here that regretted getting them.

I love my Akras but they definitely drone. They did it when my engine was pure stock and they do it more with cam & AHP ported heads- stock exhaust manifolds have always been on the car. I added some sound deadener materials under the carpet on the rear deck and that helped- but the drone is still undoubtedly there, rest assured. I deal with it because I truly love how they sound. I get compliments all the time about how great the exhaust sounds.

AHP heads with B&B headers here, no cats. The only time my Akra's drone is when I'm on the highway in 6th gear at low RPM's with flaps open. With flaps closed absolutely no drone in 6th gear at any RPM.

One of the vendors told me the new Akras are not dual mode like before.

Mine drone quite a bit in the 1500 rpm range with 2" headers and an orx I might try to adjust the valves to make sure they're closing all the way as I do get some blow by exhaust with them closed but I don't see it helping a whole lot
