Default Damaged Transmission cooler lines grrrrr

Well my clutch swap most certainly has not been trouble free. I found my prop shaft and pilot bearing are bad so I will be rebuilding my torque tube. Lets also just for fun say I totally jacked up my transmission oil cooler line, the 1/2 to 3/8 GM couple right by the bell housing. Can a compression union be used? To be honest I have no love for those GM fittings to begin with.

You could delete the transmission cooler; many on here have if they don't race the car. Not sure how much weight it saves, but since mine is a street car I'd probably ditch it if I was in your shoes.

I did a search on deleting the trans cooler an since the trans is out I will do that. I am now thinking that it is a waste to have the heat exchanger in my radiator being unused. Maybe it is possible to use that side of the radiator for my oil cooler?

Look up Stainless Works Headers kit for these cars, it includes fittings and soft line to re-route the OEM lines, preventing contact with the headers. You could do something similar with 3/8" line and some compression fittings.

I don't know if that's a viable option, but it sounds promising in theory in getting oil temps up quickly and maintaining them. Wonder if anyone has ever done this?

Should I start a new thread with that idea in a new title?
