Default more cold air to the air filter or how to get more HP

Here is how I modded the air box area to get cold air to my air filter, I use a Killer Bee with the Beehive but but it needs more air into it. Pics show where I cut the plastic and then bolted a strip of 6061 aluminum 1/16" thick 6"x21" long with a bend on the long edge 2" in at 22 degrees then drilled and bolted it so 1 1/2" sticks down into the front air opening and pics off cold air and directs it up into the air box.

Inexpensive and effective I would imagine. If it was something I needed to do, I'd probably just go with the "Vette Air".

I looked at the vette air but the problem is it directs the air right at the area of the KN where there is no inlet which why I went further out to the sides, the vette air is more if you are using the stock filter housing and want to dump the air in to the end but I believe the Killer Bee and others which have more effect area for filter media work better than the limited area of the stock air filter housing.

I had the Vette Air on my car and the surge was horrible with a K&N intake, switched back to stock intake and it still surged just not as bad. I wound up taking off the Vette Air.

GM does lots of things on purpose that aren't good for performance. I like the concept, I have the vette air on mine and it has a pretty good area relative to my halltech. Get a tune on the car and it shouldn't surge
