bleed your system as best you can and use Castrol SRF Racing DOT 4 fluid.

Its got a higher boiling point than the off the shelf auto parts stores and GM fluid.

Its the pressure plate. Changing fluid wont help. I just ordered a LT1-S because of it.

Well, I'm going to find out and report. GM recommends bleeding the system from the slave cylinder every 24 months anyway, so yesterday I paid Mac Haik Chevy $380 to do the job. They originally wanted $460, but agreed to help me out. Taking it to the MSR Cresson Sunday for the answer, so I will report.

There's no doubt that installing another clutch will fix it, as that will get the slave cylinder bled (and most likely entirely replaced) at the same time. Any then you just put in a remote bleeder because it makes sense.

Pressure plate. I'm sorry to hear you paid to not fix the problem. I was in the same boat as you and didnt want to believe it...but its the pressure plate and bleeding it every 5 mins wont make a difference.

My ZR1 is doing the same thing. I also remember when my 2008 Z06 did it, but I installed a Tick master cylinder and removed the assist spring and never had the problem again.

You were right, Acopolipse. Running 30 minute sessions with an hour of cooldown in between, the clutch pedal went halfway down during the second session. This was running the entire track in 3rd gear - no shifting. On the 250 mile trip home, the clutch was 100% normal.

Happy but not happy to be right, haha. I was in the same boat as you were in hoping it was a fluid issue or something that I could change since it is difficult to understand HOW it could be a clutch without physically "slipping" and somehow sinking the pedal. Unfortunately - we were both wrong.

Good news is Monster has a sale on right now!

Thanks for the update - will help others going through the same issue in the future.

All the best!
