Looks like your OE oil cooler has failed (which can happen)...but unless it leaked out most or all of the oil in your engine, its not the root cause of your engine failure.

Maybe in your world but not in mine...You could go to any reputable engine builder and swap engines for $1000 to $1500...$8K is a total ripoff...@ $200 an hour (and it's not that high), that's 40 hours for R & R.

That sounds really low to me, but anyway, I agree with your idea that going to a reputable tuner/engine builder is probably gonna be cheaper (and better). My friend's 08 C6Z had bearing failures at 20k miles, I believe he paid $20k or $21k at the dealer for the new motor + labor + 2 year warranty. He had electrical issues that popped up after.

So what is the end result? What did you end up doing?

That makes sense. However, now that I know what else broke in my engine, I don't think this was the issue. I'm going to make a new post with the update. I just like to answer all people in one posts and leave the updates in a separate post.

I got a cheaper quote from the shop that inspected my car, but it's still like 16k or so if I went with a new stock LS7 engine. It's because I need other things besides just the engine because coolant basically got into everything.

Update: An intake valve in cylinder #3 broke. Looks like it completely snapped off. The intake rocker also broke on cylinder #3, and my spark plug on that cylinder is damaged. It looks like something smashed into it. The cylinder #3 sleeve is broken all the way. It appears this is where all the coolant came in. Coolant ended up getting into all the cylinders, probably because it made its way into the oil system, which then brought it into the rest of the engine. The broken valve also smashed into the piston once it broke.

So my engine is completely destroyed. Please see the pictures below.

Banged up spark plug from cylinder #3

Flooded with a mix of coolant and oil

Resleeve block and replace head and piston ?
Or, find a used block or complete short block, as you see then for sale all the time.

Re-sleeving typically isn't possible due to structural breakage of the block behind the sleeve. Unfortunately, It's now a high priced paper weight.

Sorry for your misfortune OP.

PM me if you are interested in selling As-is. Been toying with the idea of turboing my z06 but dont want to tear up a perfectly good running car.

^^^ that was/is my question. Or who was the valve manufacturer? Be sure to hold on to all the parts until this is sorted out.

Man, I'm sorry to hear that! Luckily for this particular car I've had it at a few amazing shops. I did reach out to AHP. They were extremely kind and offered to do the diagnosis for me, but because of how busy they are, they said they wouldn't be able to actually fix the car until February. Therefore I decided to keep my car here closer to me. Otherwise it would've went to them in the beginning. Thanks for the well wishes, I wish you the same!

You mean the shop that did my heads? It's AHP. I've been chatting with them, and they've been very nice and helpful.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like. I did check out his blocks on his website. That's probably the route I'm going if I need to replace my block. A shop more local to me is going to do the tear down now. Wish AHP was closer, but this shop should be really good as well.

What is the reason exactly? I hope I'm not causing you any additional worries about your own car. I made sure to post this after I got an official diagnosis (or rather when I thought I did). That way I could just say what the issue is, get some advice on how to proceed, and then I could proceed. Turns out my original diagnosis was incorrect, so now I feel I posted too early. Oh well, I guess these things happen.

I also keep little information in my profile on purpose. I'm a private person when it comes to posting on the internet. I've mentioned the area I live in (Southern California).

About the roller comment, I mentioned that because I didn't want to spend almost 20k on fixing the car only to sell it for low 30s when maybe I could save myself a ton of stress and sell as-is for 15 or maybe even more (meaning I would be out the same or less than if I would fix it).

The pictures I have won't tell much because no one has taken apart the motor yet. All I have are some pictures of some oil coming out of what looks like the air filter area of the car. If you or anyone else is interested, I could post those. I just didn't think they'd add any value. I also tried taking pictures of inside the coolant tank.
Read above statement from OP. He states he had them done at AHP.

Zero reason to have a dealer do anything unless it is under warranty. They will gouge the hell out of you. (rare expections like Abel in Norcal). So get it to a corvette shop and go from there.
