I wish they (AHP) were closer to Florida, just so I could have them do the whole job. I can’t find anyone here in SW Florida I trust enough to even pull my heads so I can send them out to be fixed, and the cost of shipping in addition would be enough to just make me sell the friggin car. I have a C7 I drive most of the time while the bone stock Z sits because of this damn lssue. I only have 10000 miles on this 08 that has never even been brought to redline since I bought it new, Frustrating as hell to me, so it sits under its cover in the garage while I drive my C7 stress free.

AHP with PM guides and PSI 1511 springs here...fantastic company to deal with!

Have you thought about pulling them yourself? I know it seems daunting when you first consider it, but there are some great DIY threads here on the forum complete with color pics that walk you through each step. I'm a former aircraft mechanic, and I do all my own fixes on all of my cars, but even so I still paused to consider before I took the plunge. With that said, it was not even remotely difficult. Even the power steering pump came right off, and went right back on with no issues.

The only thing I will say is that I must be a stickler, because it definitely took me longer to do the job than I see quoted on here often. Total time for me was 18 hrs both times. I had a 2009 I swapped them on over the course of two days. My current 2007 I pulled everything apart on a Saturday, prepped the block on the following Thursday evening, and put it back together the next day. I took my time and triple checked everything, but I kept a steady pace and took very few breaks. I kept my son home from school on this last one the day it went back together; figured he'd learn much more wrenching with me than he could ever learn in one day at school. He was a champ and stayed with me through it all. It's a great way to spend some quality time with your car! Only regret is that I didn't swap the lifters and check the cam while I was in there. Oh well, I'll change the cam one of these days sooner than later, so will address that then.

Frankly, i really don't see this as an issue. I'm in Montreal, Canada and simply ordered a pair of heads from AHP...then shipped back my originals and got the core charge refunded. That's all. Yes, it cost a bit of shipping back (and duty in my case) but no biggie. And while I would have preferred the expertise of AHP or someone intimately familiar with these cars, I had my local Porsche shop do it and they certainly had the required expertise.
PS my car had only 6k miles when i had this done last summer

..right up until you pull the intake manifold and look at the mess you have due to the GDI design.. Even GM (and Toyota, and others soon to follow) have wised up to the intake valve coking nightmare, are now adding dual-FI systems - DI and Port FI..

Hey bud! I am in the same boat. I live in Fort Myers SW Florida and am looking for someone to get my heads fixed with all AHP parts. The only place I was recommended and would work with AHP is Frank Pavlock from Pavlock Motorsports but he is on the east coast of Florida. I will be taking my car to him eventually since I heard great things. He also has a trailer and can pick up cars if needed.

Shoot me an email with where you at in Florida and I can see if we can link you up with a nearby shop:
HP@americanheritageperformance.com

Its just talks here now but if we do ever get an East Coast AHP location it will be in the Tampa / Sarasota area

I just ordered heads on Friday, I'll be adding a 116 cam to the order in the next week or two. The difficult part of the whole thing wasn't determining what company to buy the heads from, the difficult part was figuring out the install. I'm in Denver and not well connected in the automotive industry. I considered shipping the car the AHP to get the work done but the cost would have gone up substantially. I did find "a guy" locally that had done some work on my car and in checking around his name kept coming up, so I'm going with him.

that was my challenge too...finding someone local to do the actual work, reliably and with attention to detail.Nobody seems to be a LS specialist here in Montreal. But, my local Porsche shop was more than up to the task

What we need is a catalog of shops in a range of locations endorsed for R&R of AHP heads at reasonable rates, preferably with warranty (similar to the interactive map of "wiggle testers"). Shops here in the aforementioned mid-Atlantic region tend to sell only their own package (typically with questionable guide / valve material compatibility) and/or installed prices inconsistent with AHP's (and no warranty).

The following excerpts are from a dated thread (perhaps AHP will chime in with the latest estimate), but local options I have explored are at least $1k more (plus storage fee while waiting if not accepting random cores).

Correct the pricing posted above is dated pricing.

Our current price to remove, rework your heads into our "basic" package 4 heads (w/ our PM guides) and reinstall with all pars (our head install kit) and labor is $3,350 (plus misc and tax on parts. If someone wants less down time we offer a one day turn around option with use of one of our core sets. We require a deposit to start building one of our core set for our in house swaps. Once we have the core heads ready to install we will have the customer drop for the swap. Once complete we will keep the old head as our core exchange heads and subtract the deposit from the total balance due at pickup of the vehicle.
