Get out your wallets, Mecum has 330 Corvettes crossing the blocks in the upcoming Kissimmee Auction. There are two of particular interest to me - a 2009 Grey ZR1 with 179 miles and a 2006 orange Z06 with 212 miles. These are coming out of the Michael *** Collection. Apparently, this guy preferred looking at his cars rather than driving them. There are also a pair of L88s that are being sold as a pair. Amazing number of muscle cars. Always interesting to see what these cars sell for. Generally, people overpay at auctions, particularly when they add on the 10% buyer's fee. I used to really want the old muscle cars, but now have little interest. My car will outperform all of them, looks better, modern technology, doesn't break down, parts are easy to get and the purchase price is a fraction of the cost of the classic old muscle cars. I guess it's the nostalgia thing. But who wouldn't want a 67' 427 big block 435HP. That is the pinnacle of the classic Corvettes, just out of reach for most.

I would tend to agree with you on the older cars, however I love looking at them and would not mind owning a ‘67, 427 tri-power car...Mecum is fun to watch, it was on during Christmas, some great cars traded hands.

Agree, love to look at the classic muscle but don't have a desire to own them. The auctions are fun to watch!

I've been watching Mecum auctions for years and to date have yet to see a single C6 ZR1 cross the block. Oddly enough, I've seen no less than 4 C7 ZR1s tho.

Still waiting to hear the entertaining commentary when one eventually shows up.

There were a few sold at Barrett - Jackson in the past few years that had really low miles on them. I posted about one last year at this time I believe that sold at the January 2018 auction.

It looks like the good stuff will be crossing the blocks from Thursday, Jan 11 through Saturday, Jan 13, with the best cars on Friday and Saturday.

We go every year and really enjoy it. Even if you're not buying, it's a heck of a car show.
I still love my old cars, but it's hard to beat modern technology. Looks like 3,500 cars going through. I was going to this in the 80's when Dana Mecum was just starting out. Maybe 100 cars and it was held at the NCRS event in Kissimmee. It's really evolved into an enormous spectacle.

For anyone that might be looking to see what the 2 C6 ZR's go for, the 2009 with 179 miles will be crossing the block next Saturday, the 12th about halfway through the order. The other ZR is a 2010 with 3500 miles and will be Friday the 11th and will be one of the last cars of the day to cross the block.

I know i'll be tuning in to at least see what an auction market values the ZR at. Both have reserves so there's a chance that they might not even sell.

I watched the auction tonight. It's much better to record it and watch since there is probably 3 hours of obnoxious, repetitive commercials to 2 hours of auction coverage. The pair of 1969 L88s sold for $990,000 and a 2010 white ZR1 with 3,770 miles sold for $81,400. A very rare, 1 of 1 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake sold for $2.2 million. These prices include the 10% buyer's fee.

That is a strong price for a low mile C6 ZR1.

Thanks. I recorded both days to hear about the ZR1's: The white ZR1.......I guess programming ran long so I ended up getting some desert off road rally. The Cyber Gray ZR1 and the Z06 were both sold during commercial break.

I may be headed to the one in Harrisburg this July, depending on what ends up in the sellers lot...always have wanted to see one live.

Gee they add 10% to buyers and charge 10% to sellers. What a racket. The $2.2 M Shelby paid them almost a half million $$.
