Default Removing stock mufflers

I am going to install some Borlas on my 08 Z. I plan on doing it on jack stands.
Has anyone done it? I did it on my c5 Z. It was a challenge to get it up high enough.
Is it similar to a c5? Any other issues I need to be concerned with?
thank

Same...get it up on stands as high as you can. Might need to un-mount the rear sway and let is hang from end links to get mufflers out...but many have done it this way.

Yup .... let the rear sway bar hang in order to replace the mufflers.

Front down low, rear high, I had to drop my rear cradle a bit as well.

And patience.

Not everyone cares for these, but this is what is on my 5 ton jackstands using the slots where the lifting pucks would go.

No need to drop the rear cradle, but as mentioned you will have to drop the rear splash pan and sway bar, especially for the right (passenger) side. The left side comes out pretty easily but you will need to be patient and manipulate/twist the right side. But be careful as there is a electrical connector on the transmission (reverse lock out IIRC) that could be damaged if you twist it too much. Good luck.

If you don't have a rear tow hook yet, this would be the time to do it.

on my 2008 Z06 the driver side cane right out but after a few hours trying to get the passenger side out I just loosened the cradle. Had it out in about two minutes then. Good luck and be careful of the wiring and evap canister on the passenger side.

Done it many times.... on jackstands ìts hard to get high enough to get the pass side out. Takes 10 min to drop the cradle a little and everything comes right out. Swaybar has to go as well

I had my Borla Stinger
put on for $150. Sure beats rolling around on the ground for an afternoon. If I had a lift, I would have done it.

Don't take this as a jab or shot, but...

Nothing beats working on my Vette, except driving it ALL day long...

Been wrenching for almost 50 years. With bad knees, I need a really good reason to hit the floor now.
