I happened to run across this post today and it just made my day. OP, I assume that's your dad in the last pic? If so, what a memory to share.
Not surprising, but still glad to see that the Katech aero is doing it's job at that speed. I've debated over and over whether to spend the $$, but I think this makes the case.
Anyway, beautiful car, beautiful helmet, beautiful documentation, and beautiful driving. Please post more!

Fantastic job and great thing to do with your dad! I think I watched that video 100 times. The sound and how nice the car acts at speed is amazing. What safety equipment did you have to get?

In my car I have a harness bar, Corbeau seats to allow belt pass-through, HANS, and all the appropriate apparel though no cage. The IMRA group techs the cars paying special attention to tire date, speed rating, metal valve stems, and pressures along with the other typical requirements for HPDE events though for the types of cars that were in attendance they did not require a cage.

That's a Chiron not a Veyron and it's shown up at several of our cruise nights here. It's a $3,500,000 car. The owner has a few more special cars!
8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 to be exact. Here it produces 1,500 horsepower and, at top speed, it can drain the Chiron's 26.4-gallon tank in less than 10 minutes. Bugatti The standard Bugatti Chiron starts at around $3 million. However, the Chiron Sport's extra goodies push its starting price to $3.26 million.

Congrats!!
My dad and I both got in the 2 club at Loring, he actually ran up to 217.xx before retiring from driving. Was a great feeling, but I was always more nervous for his safety than my own!
Were they not filming from the helo that day?

That's so cool. I've been trying to find somewhere to do the same. Looks like you really cover a lot of ground once above 200. Do you know what the McLaren was running? Assuming it was a 570S?

A TON of ground above 200! 5th gear seems like forever... The green Mclaren is actually a special visible carbon fiber bodied P1, it did 214.15. Awesome car.

Oh wow that's embarrassing. Can't believe I mistook a P1 for a 570 . Haha. That's crazy to think how close you were to something of that level!
