C6 Track Tires Advice
My car is a lowered C6Z with Doug Rippie re-valved Bilsteins, but otherwise stock suspension. I have done probably 20 track days in the car and had settled on a good tire set-up, using the Kumho 710's all around. The rears were 335/30-19's on stock C6Z rear rims. The fronts were 315/35-18's on stock C5Z rear rims (suggested by a forum member - works nicely). The last time I ran a track event the Kumho 710s were widely available - now they are not.
I do not want Hoosiers (too short-lived, been there, done that) and the Michelin and Pirelli options are too pricey. I would like to try the Toyo R888R's. I have some experience with Toyos before I switched to the Kumhos and have good feedback on the new R888Rs from my Porsche friends. I prefer not to go back to a smaller from tire <315 and the ABS ratios are almost spot-on for the 335/345 F/R option:
OK, so the questions are as follows - has anyone tried any 335/30-18 track tire (except Hoosier, we all know their sizes are freaky) on the front of a Z06 and does it clear the body, ducting, suspension? The 315 Kumho worked OK with slight rubbing at full lock in the pits/paddock. I could live with that. Second question is basically the same for a 345/30-19 rear tire fitment - does it clear the body, ducting, suspension?
I am looking for actual experience vs. opinions. Thanks in advance.
