top coming off
Has anyone experienced or heard of a top on a 2006 Z06 coming off a second time, after having been fixed per the "Roof Panel Separation" memo issued by GM. I just purchased a Z06 that has been fixed by a Chevy dealer in Utah, I am wondering if my worries are over. Thanks for any input.

Take her up to 175mph on a stretch of highway, if roof stays on, I'd say you are good to go.

Not if it was repaired correctly...and I'd find it hard to believe that it would take ~12 years for the incident to occur again.

There were actually 2 different recalls for the roof issue. The first recall only called for the roof to be reglued, which didn't work. The second recall involved swapping out the roof for one made out of a different material. So if you only had the first recall done, then it is possible the roof could come off again. If the roof was replaced, then you shouldn't have to worry.

The original recall number with just reglueing was 06041 - and the revised number replacing the roof was 06041D.

My roof was replaced by the dealer. As I recall when loose roofs began to be reported GM investigation determined the cause as faulty adhesive. The fix, at that time, was to remove the original adhesive, replacing it with an improved version. This solution was a fail. GM's next attempt for a fix was to replace the existing roof. And as I wrote earlier my roof has been rock solid for over a decade.
Two recalls concerning the 06 ZO6 roof. First one a fail. Second one, replacing the roof, which was successful. Obviously your concerned, so suggest you dig into the records so as ensure the second recall was accomplished on your car.
An unscientific test to determine if your roof is secure. Close all windows and doors. Open a door and close it forcefully. At the same time watch the roof closely for any upward movement. If there is even the smallest movement your roof should be replaced. If the roof does not move don't take it an indication the recall has been accomplished. It could mean the original adhesive has not failed.

Its because of the expansion / contraction rates of the magnesium frame and the original roof material they used. Was too much of a difference and causes the glue to shear. The fix was to go with a plastic roof.
