Default Thoughts on this Z06?

A dealership near my job has this for sale. After driving by it for weeks,I decided to stop in. They couldn't sell it at the local auction (no bids) so its been sitting on their lot waiting to be put back in inventory. I am currently waiting for the carfax as I saw some signs of ware as I walked around the car. Waiting for the mileage as well, the salesman did not have much information. I hate the rims, and the rusty rotors. There is also some bumper separation around the headlight. Im wondering is it worth buying for a good deal? Purchased with a warranty? Or could it end up being more of a headache than its worth. What am I to watch out for with this car?Thanx in advance.

The wheels are ugly, yup. the rotors are rusty from sitting. Drive it and that goes away. won't hurt anything. The bumper has a broken clip. not at all uncommon. the clip is like 2 to 4 bucks. Don't let any of that stop you.

Is it a good deal? Is it worth buying? No idea. You don't know the price yet or the history of it. If they could not sell it at auction it should go pretty cheap. The dealer is looking at interest payments for it to be in his inventory and he doesn't want that. You need to find out a lot more before you can make that determination.

Judging only from pics outside looks fairly clean, at least the lack of road rash on brake ducts. Repainted?
Wonder why it w/couldn't sell at auction? Season?
Headlight is nothing, broken clip. Dealer really should've fixed that.

Post what's found w/ a Carfax *&* GMVIS, miles, tire condition and finally asking $.
A good discussion may begin, then.

Really no information provided to answer your question...other than went to auction and
received no bids. This alone would make me
pass...dealer doesn’t want it on their lot; nor does any other dealer at the auction. If front clip was an easy fix, why would a dealer simply just not spend a few minutes to resecure? Run...minimal info provided are red flags. Plenty of clean garage queens out there.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing this car isn't sitting at a Chevy dealership, and therefore the current dealer is unaware of how to fix that. Usually, one can simply push it back down into place though, rather than leave it sticking up like that...so I'm surprised they didn't at least try that.

Wheels are hideous...but easily remedied. Carfax and Mileage may be deal breakers depending on what comes back.

Yeah I first inquired weeks ago and their answer about not knowing much info was the same, it was supposed to have been back in inventory yet it’s been sitting in the same spot since December. I should have the carfax and mileage tomorrow.

GMVIS is that the vin? Yeah I am hoping the asking price is fair. Outside does seem fairly clean, I have a video walk around of it I am trying to post.

Minimal info provided on both inquiries weeks apart. Part of me says run, the other part says try to score for cheap if possible.

You are on point, it is at a Nissan dealer along with a stang, CTS-V and a M3 all parked next to each other. Purchaser must have a thing for fast cars. The wheels would eventually be replaced with z06 or zr1 stocks.

Take VIN to any GM dealer, usually Parts Dept, ask for a printout.
Learn what it was like while under B2B to augment Carfax & other sources.

LOL, you’ve heard the quote “most expensive car you will ever own is a cheap (insert luxury, exotic, sports, etc..) car.

Of course occasionally there is that diamond in the rough or good deal.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Not wrong, Nissan.
Even so headlight/fender is blatantly off, can't ignore it.
Most dealers have their own body shop or a relationship w/ one.
If we know there's pins/cams securing it all where pin breaks causing this, a quick perusal by a pro wouldn't know it?
That isn't a big deal, not being supplied any info whatsoever upon request certainly is.

Seems like they want to keep it.

I went by again today for an update they said it’s missing a part and it’s on backorder he couldn’t tell me what the part was, but said it was mechanical related, “like a sensor” he said. That makes me think that the reason why it didn’t sell was maybe a check engine light? Salesman said we cannot inspect it and therefore they cannot sell it smh. I guess I will keep looking!

Sounds like the dealer is sending you for a loop. I wouldn't trust. I'd pass.
