Default Dropped it off at RPM

Well gents, I’ve finally settled on a shop and mods for my z06.

After a lot of research this past year, contacting a few different shops, the vette is currently parked outside of RPM in Delaware.

I slapped on the corsa sport exhaust last fall, and an mf103. No tune, so the cars still basically stock, but here’s what’s being added.

AI 280cc heads (valves,guides,pushrods,etc,.)
RPM B3 cam
Mamo MSD
NW102
ARH 2” headers catless w/x-pipe
60 lb injectors
McLeod RXT twin (slave, flywheel, etc,.)
Pfadt motor and trans mounts

Thats the nuts abd bolts of it anyway.

Before making the 4 hour drive I installed Tom’s TMOD customs lower shift box. I had 40k on my shift box, and when it came out it didn’t seem bad at all... but, as every other review goes, Toms lower shift box made a big difference. Everything is tight, the shifts are crisp, I definitely should have done this sooner. Tom got the box to me from California to Virginia in 2 days so I had it in before driving it to RPM. Awesome service, he had a great idea with what he did, I strongly recommend this to anyone looking to have a more responsive shift feel and a clear engagement in gears.

That was hopefully the last drive I had to make grinding my teeth and worrying about a valve drop!

I’ll post updates as I hear them, and review the new setup as things go.

I have a lot planned over the next 12-18 months once I get the car back, that I’ll keep adding to this thread.

Cheers!

Badass - keep us posted with your feedback!

I had mine done in the fall at RPM and the car is an absolute animal. Dramatic improvement from stock and sounds absolutely rowdy.

Thanks for posting this! I am in VA also, I watch a lot of RPM videos on YouTube, and they seem to have the talent for these cars.

Its up to RPM, I think they may be though.

I’m guessing probably 440-450 tops on the baseline. I have an mf103 intake already, so that may bring it from 440-450’ish, no prior tuning done though. The exhaust may add 2? lol... maybe I struck gold and it baselines at 460, and I end up on the higher end of the horsepower stick from one of these builds.

Regardless, it’s got 40k miles on it, I have no clue how well it was maintained before I bought it last year, how many fuel additives were used and such. But it was very well taken care of aesthetically? So, maybe the maintenance was too.

their HCI tunes, exhaust etc usually push close to 600HP at the wheels, it will be fun, good idea on the clutch while there, have them put in a remote clutch bleeder while you are there

They are, I didn’t even have to ask, I feel it’s the best shop I could have taken the car to.

I was following your thread, and I was just about to pull the trigger on contacting Bill. As soon as you got the car back and gave a little review, I immediately contacted bill. I’ve read nothing but great things about them, and I feel like I would be cheating myself to go anywhere else with everything I’m asking for the shop to do.

RPM always does a before and after dyno, that way when they can show the gains from their packages, not just some peak dyno number. Granted, there peak dyno numbers on their builds are very, very impressive! You made a very wise decision going with RPM! I look forward to seeing their video's on youtube every Wed and Friday, soon we will be seeing your car getting built!!!

Moving just south of them in one week...can’t wait! I hope to do their B3/AI package eventually, but having them tune mine in the next couple months after I add 2” ARH LT’s and Halltech 103. Called to make an appoinment but they’re not backed up for a tune only. As soon as I get settled I plan to drive up and see their shop.

Velocity - Great choice to go with RPM and their package. I have same setup on my car and couldn't be happier.

I hope to see it in their videos too, I’m too excited. I’ll be moving just south of them in a couple months as well.

Such an awesome shop, too many reasons why I didn’t work on my car myself. I wish I could have done the work myself, and I’m over the top picky when I let anybody at all touch my vehicles if it’s mot me... I honestly was comfortable just giving Steve the keys at the front desk of RPM and walking out. It’s the first and only time I’ve done that in nearly 20 years...

To be fair, this is the only time I’ve ever been okay giving my keys to any shop. I’ve only let two other places work on any car I’ve owned in the last 20 years. Anything from oil changes to complete motor swaps, I haven’t let anyone else do it. I was hesitant leaving those other two places, and almost puked when I left, because I just couldn’t accept anybody else touching my cars.... when I left RPM today, I walked out with a **** eating grin ear to ear. My wife was outside in her car waiting, and she asked why I was so happy, because she knew it was not the normal me haha.

For the first time, I’m pretty happy about another shop working on my car.

I took my car to them last fall and had the same combo put on minus the MSD. Car made 620/540 and drives absolutely amazing!! Can easily cruise at 70-75 in 6th gear. IIRC, I gained 13x hp over baseline dyno. My only problem is my lg4 exhaust and the drone it creates. The car is a beast tho! You'll love it.

when you watch all their youtube videos and see the sheer amount of C6Z's they have worked on, you know you have made the right decision!

yea seems like they only work on high end/newer cars. One place I would feel comfortable dropping my car off at.
