Smith Bros Trunion upgrade issue
So a few months back I ordered and installed the cam kit plus from Vengeance. It came with the Smith Brothers trunion kit upgrade. The trunion kit was lubed as it was assembled and installed in to the car. ~600 miles later I get a horrid grinding sound. I tore the whole top end down and inspected everything and found nothing obvious. But I did notice some of the rockers felt rough. Disassembled them and found what’s in the pictures. Anyone else have this issue out of the trunion kit?

well there you go - some of the more knowledgeable here did recommend staying with stockers - just took some time to show other brands aren't that great either. I'm sure more will follow and maybe even CHE's ?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! The only problem with the "stockers" was a small batch installed between January and July of 07', when GM switched vendors who used a different bearing design. When I tore my 07 down at 88K miles the stock rockers were in perfect condition. I still firmly believe switching from a needle bearing rocker to a bushed rocker is a bad idea due to inadequate lubrication provided for a bushed rocker. People here tend to always migrate from OEM to aftermarket which in a lot of cases is not a prudent choice.
