Default LS7 HCIE build 3.0 maybe (popped piston)

Last weekend during a 1/2 mile event I popped a piston and cracked a sleeve in cylinder 5.

The plan is to re sleeve this block with Darton sleeves and add forged pistons. Then throw a 200 shot at it. I already talked with RED about doing the sleeves. I was planning on having the rods recoated but now that I got the block apart yesterday I found 4 rods were rubbing 2 of them pretty badly. This LS7 is frustrating. I’m kinda stuck now on how to move forward. I have found 6 ls7 rods locally for $200.

I was also planning on rebuilding the transmission since I have it out.

The other thing that crossed my mind was to throw a used short block in it. Return car back to stock and sell everything that I can’t use on a C6ZR1. Which after yesterday’s findings sounds better.

Sorry that happened to your Z. What fuel were you running? Perhaps detonation?

Talk to HPR, have them re-use your block and use it as the basis for a new short-block like I did.

I'm really sorry this happened. I don't think there's anything wrong with considering a ZR1. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I already did I’m just having a hard time dealing with how much I’m going to be spending on this Z06. I really try to weight my options. I figure new block and nitrous will be 10k plus.

The way I looked at it when deciding...go on the ZR1 forum and see how much money they pour into theirs to make more boost reliably. That 10k disappears fast.

Hey Jay this is Brian, was at the 1/2 mile in November. I have the black Z.
Sorry to hear about your motor.
I too love the c6 ZR1’s. I have driven my buddy’s many times. The one at the event. It has the basic bolt ones and a cam.
makes a little over 800 to the tire. There is no supercharger lag at all. It is scary fast. Doesn’t take much money to get to that power either , and there is room to grow if you want more power,

i heard the 1/2 mile is a standing start now.
Did you get in any runs?
Good luck with whatever you decide .

I did get 5 runs in and broke it on the 5th run. Really sucked.

he put Toyo R888 in 345 19. They hook really well.
It will dead hook 2nd at 50 mph. We need to do another 1/2 mile.

I do not know. I do know my tuner is highly respected and well known. They other thing I wonder is could my electric water pump have caused me to over heat? My coolant stayed at 205 max during the event
