2007 Stock Z06 Track Upgrades?
For horsepower I'm going to add headers, intake, exhaust.
Are there any key handling upgrades you suggest or is it fine the way it is?
Thanks in advance for the ideas!

Other than headers exhaust will add zip, nada, nothing for horse power. Your biggest gain will be a dyno tune.
As far as handling, coil overs, bushings, wheel alignment and track rubber are a good place to start.

To make your car more track worthy and faster (safety equipment excluded from my list):
Brake pads #1

Replacing control arm bushings with monoballs or delrin #3 (you'll need these soon if you use hoosiers or slicks)
coilovers, sway bars, #4
Aero #5

Take it to the track and drive before you do any upgrades. Once you learn the limits of the car then that's when you start changing what is only needed. You'll be dumping money in the wrong places by changing with you "think" you need for the track. Just make sure everything is tight and nothing leaking and take it on the track.

Drive your car without any mods and see what it needs. For most people, the Z06 is more than they can handle. Spend your money on an instructor and seat time. Don't waste it on mods you "think" you need.

2019 C1 of Year Finalist (appearance mods)
Best add on after any power upgrades..........Brakes!!! then Suspension....You pick em (Brembo, StopTech). I must admit that Stock C6 Z06 Total Package including brakes is very good.................

I would keep the engine stock except for doing the heads. Keeps it more reliable. Stock is plenty fast.

Just to be safe i'd take a look at your rotors and at a minimum get new brake pads. Flush your brake fluid with SRF or Motul 600 RBF. Make sure your tires have a decent amount of tread, some events they will inspect the tread and not allow you on track if the tires are too old or too bare.
Have fun!

Power mods should be the very last thing added. There is so many other areas the car is lacking or that cause issues that need to be fixed first. Follow Mordeth's advice and fix the heads too.

Burning Brakes
Looks to me that enlarged dry sump tank has been missed so far. Ignoring this has caused many a destroyed engine on road courses. Shocks have been mentioned. OEM shocks are horrible and a set of DRM Bilsteins or even plain Bilsteins should be considered at a minimum. Agree with Unreal, stock power is plenty for the time being.

thanks.
Thank you for all the advise. I'm a straight line power junky too so I'm doing the engine mods for roll races etc. And yes, redoing the heads will be part of that project.
I have Nitto NT01s on the car now and they stick so good that it has made me want more power. My take away here is that I'll probably to brakes and DRM Bilsteins next.

With a dry sump motor be careful of left hand sweepers and the dreaded loss of oil pressure and thus the motor. There are several users of this forum where that has happened. Solution is better baffling in the dry sump tank and better oil pickup setup. Ariad is one that makes the the parts.
