The problem with Carfax is if an accident or any big issues have not been reported it wouldn’t show on their report so you can’t rely on that only, the best thing you can do is to bring the car to a good independent shop or another Chevy dealer for a good PPI Before you buy. Good luck

Unless I missed it, what is the ask price. I just bought a 2011 ZR1, 28000 miles for $42,000. No damage history, fully optioned. Maybe this can give you a comparison.
True on Carfax damage history. Could be as simple as a bolt on part damaged. To bad no prior owner input.

Price is $50,900 plus an extra $399 to ship 700 miles to me; and it is indeed available for sale right now. most of what's out there now is $60k-to-upper $60's in price. $51k is about $10k less than every c6 ZR1 i see out there now.

I know with my '07 coupe/z51 purchased new in '08, it eventually developed transmission problems that were quite severe, was repaired at a GM dealer in San Jose, CA (Courtesy Chev who sold A LOT of Vettes over the years) and that repair was not on my own CarFax when i looked at it a few months later. i know these "reports" have their limits. It is the case though that i have 7 days to check it out.

After looking at a bunch of YouTube vids last night, i'm not REALLY feeling inclined to go for a '10 or higher because of the PTM feature.

From what I saw over four months of looking at ZR1s, prices were all over the board. Dealers held the highest prices and their rationale was the rarity of the ZR1. Of course with them, it’s a profit game. One dealer in Vallejo had an 09 with 23k miles listed at $58,900. They were willing to pull their po on the car and took it on trade for $46,000. $12000 profit.
I scoured the listings from private party sales and found the best prices. You also get the history on the car from the owner as well as Carfax.
The PTM feature is truly unique and is a quantum leap to the system in older ZR1s and all Z06s.
The 09 you are looking at, and if it is mechanically sound, I’d be offering in the mid $40s. Keep in mind they probably have $10 grand of profit built in. Have them show their cards and let you see their purchase order sheet. No need to pay into that kind of elevated profit.

I've been looking at others too...especially 2010 and later....I miss-spoke in my last post: i meant to say that i AM more inclined to go for one with PTM. Hell, i had an AWD STI that once caught some pea-sized gravel on a corner on a DRY road and almost ended with me hitting a utility pole. With the power of a ZR1, the day and time eventually comes when for some onforeseen reason, a side-ways slip happens...just gotta hope in such a case no-thing or no-body is next to me.

BTW, nobody wants to even budge $1,000 on a c6 ZR1...which surprises me because with most being upper $60k's, there has got to be...as posters here are correct to point out....wiggle room in a way that still leaves a decent chunk of profit. As we all probably have experienced, dealers almost always low-ball on what they pay for the vehicles they take in.

Same reluctance to give a price break seems to apply to the c7 Z06's i'm talking with dealers about too. Considering the c8 is just around the corner, that surprises me. Getting to be a lot of them going up for sale now too.

They know they don't have to. When you look at what you are getting for 60 grand there isn't much out there that compares. If you want to row your own gears the list gets shorter. If you want it to be affordable to maintain that list shrinks to just two cars in my opinion. Sure if you wait you can probably find a private seller that is hard up for cash for some reason and then you will get a deal like another poster in this thread got. But if you watch cars at dealerships, unless there is something wrong with it, it will sell to someone.

that does seem to be the case. i was looking at a Centennial Z06 at Del Chev which has been on AutoTrader for about 6 months. i've offered a price 4 times so far, and each time they repeat the posted price.

so I"m not sure about something regarding c6 ZR1's ...do they (2009's) ALL have the exposed Carbon Fiber roof and halo? the one I'm looking at DOES have a Perf Traction, but that's just the "touring" or "sport" setting, right? it's not like the 5-levels Performance Traction Management, is it?

BTW, hellz yeh...$42k is amazing. I'm at $50,900 with 25,020 miles and don't see anything near it. trying to finalize the purchase today.

o2ba, all the C6 ZR1s have the exposed carbon fiber roof & halo. The tour vs sport setting **** on the console is for the MSRC shocks,
not PTM. If the car has PTM (2010 m-y or later) the settings are accessed via the separate TC button (on the console) which displays
the settings choices in the DIC in the dashboard.
