Default C8?

Who else could really care less about this car?
Mid engine, drastic design change, smaller displacement.. Perhaps I have become a little jaded with my recent ZR1 purchase. But I really don't see the big "to do" about this car.

If I am being honest, the C7 platform has grown on me. (Z06/ZR1/GS) not enough to buy one though.

The lines of both the C5Z/6Z's are timeless. GM knocked a home run with the wide body C6Z's. I am not convinced the C8's will do the same.

Is it just me?

I love the aggression in the C7 but the C6 is the last corvette IMHO, you could park a C6 next to a C2-5 and know they are related.

The C8 wide body will probably change your mind when it arrives in a few years. Add turbos, AWD and a couple of electric motors up front and the ZR1 version is going to be ridiculous. Not sure I'll be able to afford it when it first comes out but I'll have one eventually.

i love my c6z, but i spent enough money making the interior nice enough to enjoy, that i could have built a bottom end for the damn thing. Now, im too far in it to ever get rid of it.

Does your wife know you have a love affair going on ? LOL. C7 *** end just doesn't do anything for me. But I said the same thing about the newer Ford trucks and now I own one.

Agreed on the C7 widebody growing on me over all

yiu more than most should know these threads pop up every time a new gen is to be released.

i think you are jaded, but I don’t blame you. The C6 ZR1 is by far the best looking Corvette to date imo

im personally excited to see what’s new, good or bad.

I’ve got a C7 3LT as well as the 2 C6s... Z06 and now a ZR1. Call it a love affair with the Corvette. There is zero comparison between the c6 and 7 when it comes to interiors. I call the C7 a chics car. It has all the bells and whistles, full wrap leather and stitching. Even the seating position is different as to how you sit in the car, the dash is more wrap around and the electronics are almost totally controlled by steering wheel buttons. It’s still a beast from a performance standpoint, but it’s lost many of the Corvette styling cues.
The C6 is pure Corvette. Just enough in gadgets to satisfy the marketing folks. The interior is utilitarian. Sure the seats suck, but for the most part the overall layout is fine. However, I get three plus times the compliments from people in the c6 than the 7. Not that it matters that much to me, but it’s certainly reflective that the C6 has more appeal to the masses.
As for the C8, my jury is out. Chevy is obviously going after the super car exotic market. I just hope that the marketing and design folks at Chevy don’t forget the roots of the Corvette. Corvettes were never meant to be luxury sports cars, electronic masterpieces or like so many other cars, complete design changes every 4 years. From the C1 through C6 you could easily identify the Corvette. Not so much anymore.

I am excited to see what they offer and to learn more about the car, too many rumors out there right now. I am also pleased to see what appears to be thoughtful forward thinking. I love my 427 but it may be time for a change. Time will tell.

Ugh I care too much about this brand and its a waste of time.

Thus far I think this new one is looking awkward and I don't have the energy to try and like it for years and be told I am envious or jealous because I don't want it.

In terms of Corvette specifically I am exhausted. Waiting for the C7 launch , then waiting for the C7 wide body, then the C7 ZR1. You shouldn't have to try to like a car this much. When I look at a 911 or even a GT350R, Hellcat Redeye etc I have the want. The new 2019 GT4 with a 6 speed manual is seriously haunting my mind. But the C8 evokes nothing but fear of disappointment so far. Im sure I will wait for the wide body ... then the ZR1....

My C6 ZR1 is old now. People remind me of that all the time but I still really like it and am going to keep it. Its a throw back to when I didnt have to try so hard to like a Corvette. . . I just had to have one.

The truth hurts, and when people are butthurt, they get defensive. thanks for proving my point.

Trust me no one gives two sharts about your 8 year old car.

You just made a post disparaging a car which has it's own subforum in the hopes that the people browsing this one will give your fragile ego some validation. The insecurity is palpable.

Those people who can't appreciate changes in styles and technological advancements, and talk down to others to feel better about the money they spent... truly the worst type of car enthusiast.

Meh. I like the analog look/feel of the C6Zs. I don't need touch-screens and 17 driving modes. I'm excited for the C8, but don't even really like the C7s all that much.

I am excited to see how GM has advanced the performance of the car in a whole. The c6 is raw and powerful, the c7 is has downforce and manages the power a little better. What will the c8 bring to the table?

HP isn't everything dodge learned that by building a heavy a car with enormous power, even the C7zr has more power then it can handle. I hate to say it but they are no match for a car that that has great balance between power/traction/weight this I have learned from recent track days.

Those who don't track against these other cars or drive there cars hard have no idea and only car about styling or bragging rights. looky, looky what im driving

“”Those who don't track against these other cars or drive there cars hard have no idea and only car about styling or bragging rights. looky, looky what im driving””

How true. Whenever I see a super car, ( Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche Turbo, etc ). .. I wonder how many ever see the track. Most are paying the $200,000 plus price of entry so that they “look” good, important, powerful.
The C6 Z06 and ZR1 are sledgehammers, that also do a great job of sending home the finish nails.

As for a previous comment that people people couldn’t give “two *****” about the C6 performance coupes ... I’ll beg to differ. I get compliments almost daily, from all ages.
Today at the gas pump a dude in a BMW M6 asked what year, what engine bla bla bla. Then, the inevitable question about power. After answering 650 HP, the convo came to an end.

Freddy, the C6 is a drivers car. It’s what most of us in the C1-C6 crowd admire about the corvette. The tail lights, the raw power. It feels like a corvette, it’s unmistakable with or without badges, THIS is a corvette... the L88 in ‘67, an overpowered 427 engine on a 3300 pound car... the LS7 in our C6 Z06’s, an overpowered 427 engine on a 3300 pound car. The resemblance is inside and out through history...

The changes in the C7 were too much, too soon, for many of us. This doesn’t mean we’re jealous, or in denial. I pulled up behind a camo C8 and ignored it entirely because I thought it was a camaro with a wrap.... when it took a turn at the light and I realized it was a C8, at first I immediately wanted to turn around... then I realized I just mistook what should have been the most exciting car on the road to me, for a camaro... so I let it go.

Don’t get me wrong, if I had the extra cash laying around, I would buy a C8 Z06... but that’s purely because I love corvettes, and the same reason I would buy a c7 Z06, knowing full well it has cooling problems. I want one of every generation.

But like many others, I too also feel like the last true corvette was the C6.
