I am going with Mobile 1 0w-40, OE recomended and has a fairly high ZDDP content and good for just about all weather. Nothing really better or well easily available for street use.

You guys recommend 0-w40? Mobil 1 street driven but driven like I drag race. He’s telling me he’s testing 20-12000 rpm extreme loads no failure

For drag racing my mechanic recommends VR1 10w-30 racing oil, he uses it in his 2K hp LSX car.

Granted I've only changed my oil once since I bought my car earlier this year, but I used just regular Mobil 1 5w-30

Default Best Oil, Really?

There is no single best oil for all usages and ambient conditions, so the advice you have been given is stupid. There is no secret sauce. Once you look at your use and ambient temperature range, an engine oil which is a very good engineering compromise can be chosen. My use is 25% track miles and 75% highway miles for an engine which produces somewhere near 570 hp at the crank. I am using Mobil One 0w-40 oil which is recommended by GM for my car. Ambient air temperatures range from about 25 degF to 100 degF, and I have seen oil temperatures on track up to 250 degF. I change the engine oil and filter every 6 track days, which turns out to be about every 3000 miles. I have been having Blackstone Labs perform engine oil analysis on the last 5 oil/filter changes. I am satisfied with this Mobil One oil.

I am not adverse to running Mobil One 15w-50 oil in the summertime, but am not concerned that it would be the best for the wintertime.
