Default question for the former c5z06 owners

how big of a difference is the c6z06 in terms of passing/pulling power vs. the c5z06? i'm not talking about right off the line, but more once you're on the road, things like going from 5th to 3rd and romping on it, that kind of fun...

do tell. thanks!

You must be joking--have you driven a C6Z? The TQ diff is very noticeable. The new cars pull like freight trains. The C5Zs actually feel a bit better right off the line due to better gearing, but it's no contest from abt 30 up

Yes I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

(Nope, never driven a C6 Z06; that's why I'm asking!)

Keep the replies comin'.

The C6Z06 feels exactly like it has 100 more horsepower than the C5Z06. Torque difference is amazing. Can putter around all day at 1500 rpm in the C6 or take it up to 7000 rpm in seconds. Pulls almost as hard as my c4 bracket car (10.58@ 125)

Having just done the jump from a c5 with a few mods to the c6z it is huge. Still civilized, but the c6z is a lot of car for a factory piece. I'd be comfortable letting a wife/girlfriend or friend drive the c5, not the c6z. It can skate sideways a lot easier and get you in trouble if you are not use to power or a stiff suspension. So, I'll keep both.

Light years difference, particularly with Katech upgrades. C6Z is a whole new world.

I had an 01 Z, 06-Z, and now an 07-Z. I loved my 01, however the 06-Z, is on a different level. I had a Killer bee intake, GL Longtubes, and a tune from Jim. Which I belive is faster than my current 07-Z.

I just love these cars...

I had a 442 rwhp C5 Z which i really liked. I rode in a C6 Z06 in 2006 @! Road America. As someone else said, 3rd gear is just like a freight train and just pulls from down low to 120 with ease.. More power, longer gears, higher rev limit. After coming from a 346 to 427, it all plays with your mind.

To your question, hit a highway ramp in 3rd, hit it and it looks like traffic stops.

Didn't think they could of improved them that much, so I took the Bob Bondurant School's ZO6 Experience Course they offer and stopped at every Chevrolet dealer from Arizona to California. I was the proud owner of a Black 2008 ZO6 one month later and still have a smile on my face!

If it was going to be a track car, I would take a slightly modded C5Z and save the $30+K. If it is going to be a street car and weekend warrior, then I would stick to the C6Z and not worry about the extra $$$. I still like the feel of my C5Z for all out track duty and Auto-X. It feels more like a well balanced go kart (comparable to my 125 shifter kart), but the C6Z just takes a little more to drive it at the limit and is not as confidence inspiring at first. Anyone can feel like Michael Schumacher in a C5Z.

We used to have the best of both worlds with my highly modded C5Z track car and her heads, cam, and headers '07 Coupe daily driver, but we sold both, bought a C6Z and use the Trailblazer SS for the dd. Now we don't argue over whose car to drive. We just put the C6Z on the trailer and tow it to the track and double drive it.

Our new plate for the C6Z is "4SMOKN U"
