Default Akrapovic Exhaust Shipment

Guys,

We have Akrapovic Exhaust systems in stock....

Akrapovic is a European company that has been around for years and made a name for themselves providing exhausts for high end sport bikes. They then brought that success to the high end sports car world (ie; BMW, Porsche, Nissan GTR, etc....) The exhaust systems they craft are literally a work of art. Made of the absolute best materials, when you open up an Akrapovic exhaust system it will make you feel like a kid at Christmas time getting the present that you always wanted. The welds are perfect, the tips beautiful, the finish will simply amaze you. You can smell the quality instantly.

They also make a Corvette Z06 and ZR1 Titanium Exhaust that is extremely light (not sure if everyone remembers the OEM C5 Z06 exhaust was made of Titanium for the weight savings) and sounds unbelievable. The Akrapovic Corvette Titanium Exhaust is also one of the only other exhaust system on the market that keeps factory Multi Mode exhaust system in place (so the flaps in two of the exhaust ports open and close at different RPM's), the Corvette Z06 Billy Boat Fusion System being the other.

The Akrapovic Catback system weighs only 39lbs (almost half what the OEM system weighs), and produces an additional 13-15 HP while lightening the load 30lbs. The Akrapovic systems sounds absolutely unbelievable without any drone.

Akrapovic only makes exhaust systems for the ZR1 and Z06 in a Catback and Axleback versions. They call the "EVO" their catback and the term "slip on" is used for the Axle back systems. They are available with Titanium tips and Carbon Fiber tips.

More info on each system and a video at the below links.

and they also make a Stainless steel version....

Please someone explain to me why anyone owning a stock ZR1 would want to replace the stock exhaust system--UNLESS they are going to do other significant modes. Like perhaps the Langenfeldter stuff. I admit I don't get it. THis is not a slam to this product, it is a comment about all after market exhausts for the ZR1. I can see a different look, maybe a different sound--but the mild to wild switch makes the stock ZR1 sound great, IMHO

Couple reasons, one is just the improved exhaust note...Some folks like a more aggressive sound. The ZR1 exhaust is no different that the Z06 exhaust. They both sound very similar and you would be surprised how many people want to give the Z06 or ZR1 a deeper more aggressive sound.

There are also performance gains made with an aftermarket system, anywhere from 10-15hp depending on the system. You can also reduce weight on with an aftermarket system, especially a titanium system.

You obviously have not been bitten by the "mod bug" yet or are immune Some folks are and never mod their Corvette at all....

Have you ever driven or heard a ZR1 with an aftermarket system on it? I am guessing no, but do not know for sure. I think if you did, you would understand the answer to your question (and a very valid question ) If you have heard one then maybe the OEM system is exactly the sound you like. Exhaust note is kinda like beauty (eyes of the beholder)......Same thing with sound, (ears of the beholder )

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, how loud is this system when the valves are closed? Is it a droner?

Thanks Jim. I have a modded stock exhaust, and a Fusion system, but I'm not running the Fusion right now due to drone. Too much for me at cruise. Still searching for a system that has no drone and a loud, deep sound.

Honestly, I had the Fusion system on my Z06 and with the valves closed did not have a problem with drone, but I have had others tell me they had a very little bit....Did you have the X pipe? I had it on mine...

The Akrapovic might be the right system for you then but I would check with others that own the system and get their feedback. Would hate to steer you wrong...getting a little nervous since you had some drone with the Fusion. I think drone is a little subjective as some folks are more sensitive to it than others...

Honestly, I think you will love the Akrapovic....

Take Care,

Jim

Are the same performnce gains seen with just the axle-back titanium system for the Z06? I already have headers, cats and x-pipe. Thanx.

I have not compared them side by side, right next to each other.

The Corsa (to my ears) have a motor boat sound....The Akrapovic sounds definitely more exotic....I would say it is a little higher pitched...But will let other chime in that have the system.
