No. It is a different system altogether. The two coolants don't cross over. You can argue about it all you want, but it won't change the fact.

If you're down 1" in the engine coolant reservoir than that is your problem. I assume you're comparing it to a previous level at the same temperature. The level changes depending on the temperature of the engine. At this point I would let the GM guys take a look at it.

In a couple of my older cars I had head gaskets trickle coolant into the cylinders before. There is not enough of it to turn the oil milky, but there is enough to create the smoke under hard acceleration. As far as the intercooler, the only way the coolant from the system could get into the engine is if the “bricks” were leaking from a crack or something. Best to let GM take a look. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks
GM had a look at my problem it appears there's a bulletin out the main bearing tend to loosen while being spiritedly driven :>) They replace all the bolts, increased the TQ and changed the thigten sequence. I've only had it back 1 day but no more smoke and no oil on the floor this morning.

It didn't say anything more than retighten at higher TQ in a different order. If yours leaks the dealer will be happy to fix it.

I'm not clear on this. The main bearings were loose and you were loosing coolant?

It was oil not coolant just looked white at 100.

Perhaps the rings did not seal properly with the "loose" main bearings at max power?

The bolts vibrate loose that's why additional TQ is needed and a different sequence during tighten.

Metraman,

I understood the main bearing was loose. The unexplained mistery is why would that cause the oil leak into the combustion chamber under heavy load? Rings?

There are 10 bolts on the side of the block with seals under their heads. They loosen and the OIL runs out around them down the block to the exhaust and SMOKES. Nothing to do with the rings.

Now I understand. An external oil leak. We all were thinking an internal leak. Thanks for clarifying it.

was it like this? I'm trying to decide if I should buy this for my husband as a surprise. I'm just alittle worried his dream car will turn into a nightmare 😢

Vettegirl, I'd keep looking if I were you. That's a sick engine. Don't buy someone else's headache.

I agree, I passed on it, I'm too afraid I'd be looking at 12k in repairs.😢
