The first video compares an Enzo to a GT-R it seems. We have no other details (tires, drivers, date/time). Enjoyed the video, but what do you expect people to comment on?

The second video shows some cars go by. So?

Not sure what is the point of this post and how it relates to ZR1's.

First Video is ZR1( not enzo ) vs 2012 GT-R - time 7.24.22, ZR1 - 7.26.40 i think. My point is GT-R is pretty quick compare to the previous version.
The 2 cars was dead equal in the first half.

Second video was just a few nice cars at the track, thats all.

How many threads must we endure talking about the GTR's on this forum?

The latest 2012 GTR is a beast of a car so we should just all accept that.

All I saw was a right hand drive car. So, I know I won't be buying that car at a local dealer. What tires did it have? What were the conditions? Who was driving it. What were the modifications? All these have significant effect on lap times. Making comparisons without knowing what you're comparing are not only inaccurate but silly. Why did the video heading say Enzo? Very scientific, NOT!

The second video was just as useless, what did it exactly show?

This kind of post is totally useless, you must like to stir the pot.

I would like Nissan to just take a GTR from a dealer’s showroom floor and then run that car with no other tweaks or shady games. If it beat the ZR1 time, great! I can live with that, but stirring and stirring the pot with so much unknown creates very excited bench racers.

I agree. The previous lap-times Nissan was posting were with the tires switched up. AFAIK, Porsche called them out on it and never got a response. I also recall reading that the previous 'fast' times they were posting were on the 'shorter' version of the ring initially. I think the 7:24 was on the 20,832 m, but initially they were posting about the 20,600 m if I recall. I could be wrong as I had difficulty finding this info again; I seem to recall stumbling across it, but Wikipedia has even the '09 GTR as running the longer of the two on Nordscheife.

Like others, I'd like to see a factory-stock GTR go to the track. Perhaps this new '12 is factory stock. The notation on wikipedia lists it as 'stock,' but they touted that the one with the switched tires was 'stock' as well.

I thought the "established ring time" for the ZR1 was more like 7:22?

I've heard that as well, but as I understand it, that wasn't an 'official' run for some reason. Not quite sure why...

Thought some of you might like this. I went to the Redline Challenge (event 2) at Firebird (Phoenix) yeaterday and Lou G. in the LG Motorsports Corvette won, beating a couple of stout GTRs and a highly modified 350Z. I know -- modified cars, but in the end it was the big V8 over the turbo V6 that gave Lou a win in a drag race to the finish.

What's the Redline Challenge? Was this an actual drag race he won or another type of racing?

It is a road course event. I've included a link to the website. At Phoenix Firebird, it was a 1.6 mile road course (Firebird Main). There were 8 competitors -- Corvette, GTO, GTR's, 350Z, Evo, Mazda, Mini, etc. -- all well prepared race cars. It had a five lap seeding race, followed by two lap, head-to-head double elimination races. I think the next event is at Willow Springs.

I'm still wondering what happens when you over power all four wheels by a bunch and the cars extra inertia helps the car off line?

...except that experience has shown that the transmission, launch control, etc. will break soon enough. If AWD is such a supercar revelation, why doesn't Nissan race the car?

Rear wheel drive is probably going to be tested this summer:

Plans include test sessions at the Nürburgring in the summer of 2011, with Hennessey hoping to ultimately break the 7-minute barrier.

(It's supposed to run a big 7-mile oval too (like the Sledgehammer?)!)

I will love to see this thing OBSOLETE all the heavy dogs! It would be a timely edition to one of the arguments I have been making with some of the wise car giants chimming in here all the time!
