Default Why Not a 416 ci LS9

Just curious I wonder why GM didn't go all the way and make the ZR1 engine 416 ci instead of 376.

Cylinder bores too close together for adequate head sealing to last 100K miles.

The 416 & the 376 have the same cylinder bore spacing. The 416 is the 376 with a 4 inch stroke.

In that case maybe the piston pin height is too close to top of piston to allow for sufficient crown strength in a supercharged application.

Maybe it is because target horsepower for the Blue Devil project was about 600, and the 6.2 hit that target and ran right over it with 638 SAE net, nicely exceeding expectations.

In Before the Callaway crowd and their supercharged 7.0's.

I'd also speculate the extra torque from the 4" stroke was unnecessary and would just make more work for PTM.

That's where Katech comes in.

I see GM Performance offers a 454 ci LSX long block ... can you massage that to hold up to a blower?

Sure, but it might be better just to build from scratch for the purpose of using a supercharger.
