181 in the standing mile is stout.

a year or 2 back a guy representing an internet site called the smoking tire or something to that effect could get past 177.

your 2013, does not look like it has the cup tire option, i think the cup option gives the zr1 similiar transmission gear ratios to the 2011, 2010 and 2009.

Maybe with the more economy oriented gears 5th and 6th in the 2012 and up zr1's it gives better performance up high, -- the opposite of what you might expect.

Yeah - all the ZR1's at the October Texas Mile were easily pushing 178-180. My 2013 has the taller 5th gear - a slight disadvantage for the mile. Mark's 2009 was definitely the fastest!

I saw that video at the Mojave Mile - it may have been as simple as temperature, headwinds, etc. In October we had temps in the 50s with a decent tail wind.

The 09s seem to be the fastest, fastest quarter mile times, fastest Texas mile by quite a bit.I am considering a 09 cyber gray ZR-1 presently,700 miles, very clean.Stealer wants a lot $96,000.I am in Hawaii, only 2 or 3 on the island, they are making one pay the price for bringing it in.I drove it shifts, real smooth.Should i buy it?There is a 2010 black one in Houston with 70 miles, can buy it for 88k,ship it in myself?SA.

The 09 comment makes me feel good. I find it odd that same thing occurred when they tested the 06 Z06 and then in 07 and 08 they were slower. Can someone come up with an explanation of this besides driver or different dynos. Time is time elapsed or speed of trap. Very odd and all the Zr1s are forever will be the american badass. ;0)

Don't think anyone will notice, all years are badass. But Inferno Orange has to be at least a mph or 2 faster

I think the best c6 Zr1 would be as late in the production build as possible for a 2009. 2009;s don't have launch control another reason why i would want that over a 2010 or newer.

2012's and up have 4 cats and if you don't have the car optioned with cup tires gear ratios are different in 5th and 6th making them slower in the standing mile.

Ok not sure I understand why this makes the newer ones worse.

I remember very well when the 09s came out and everyone was like I have to have this car and "no one" paid less than $120,000 and even more. So, the 09s have this bias for the amount of money originally paid. Now, a new 2013 can be had for $105ish and it is suddenly a slower ZR1???

Default What is the best year for theC6 ZR1

Timmy, thanks for your comment. It would cost about 3k to ship ZR1,from Houston to Hawaii. This 09 ZR1 that came in over here,a week ago,is near perfect,700 miles,I had never seen a ZR1,man pictures dont do this car justice. It had clutch replaced at 150mi.under warranty. It got caught in the 09 bad pressure plate zone vins:0667-1089.This one at 0954.It shifts fine, little spooky paying 96k for a car that has been taken apart that soon.Anything to be concerned about?I think the 09s may be the fastest, because of no launch control&5way traction control, less stuff to bog the computer down.SA.

I wouldnt mind the clutch think at all. The reason why i think 09 are faster is because of the tune. I think same happen with the 06 z06
first year are tuned more aggresive, then smoothed out the years after that! I dont miss the PTM at all! Why would i, ill might track the car one time per year, might!

Here's the difference 2010 or 2012 with performance package Highway.speed 70mph 2000 rpm
Without performance package 1500 rpm
To me that was the deal breaker when I go on a trip I like to hear the radio, not the engine.
As far as the other cars mentioned go they are a totality different animal.
Try to go around a 90 deg turn at 60 or 70mph with a Mustang or Camero.

The tune...I think that is a good argument as they want to impress the magazines and tracks etc. Hey my VY goes faster since it is that color

If you're running stock exhaust you can't hear the engine at 2k rpm on the hi-way.

it's pretty quiet with the exhaust flaps closed, in 6th at that rpm. Maybe gets a bit louder at 2500+ rpm...
