Default Moving to a ZR1... Any problems to look out for?

Selling my Z06 as i am sick of all the doom and gloom on the Z06 forum about valve issues and such, and am in the hunt for a ZR1.

Have been doing some research on them and cant find many horror stories which is great, but thought i would ask is there any problems to look out for when buying a low milage 3ZR?

Thanks guys

How about after you buy it---- speeding tickets
The car is a beast! Other than the vibration issue which has fixes no major issues !!!! Good luck and hope to see you posting pics of a BAMF soon.

These cars to date are proving out to be very robust.

Great machines, and as good as the Z is, the ZR is more enjoyable to own and drive.

You could just spend $3-4K and upgrade the heads on your LS7. It would restore peace of mind and add power, a definite win-win.

However, I would be the last person on earth to talk someone out of getting a ZR1. (I have two. )

Only problem to look out for is the police as others have pointed out.

Same year Z06 to same year ZR1 is probably $30K or even less, depending on optional Z06 equipment (carbon fiber pkg, Z07 pkg, 3LZ pkg) etc...

I do agree that it's much cheaper to do heads, and you will supposedly have a "safe" Z, but you won't nearly have a ZR1.

The difference from a (base) Z to a ZR is pretty substantial.
-638 HP LS9 (ZR1 only)
-forged internals (ZR1 only)
-higher volume oil pump with piston squirters (ZR1 only)
-dual disk clutch (ZR1 only)
-heavy duty torque tube and tranny output shaft (ZR1 only)
-exposed/cleared carbon fiber (ZR1 only)
-carbon ceramic brembos
-magnetic selective ride with PTM
-19/20 wheels with michelin PS2 ZPs
-dual power seats with lumbar adjustments
-3ZR interior (leather dash, doors and console lid)

Remember to tell him he has to shell out the huge difference before shelling out for mods

Yeah, looked into doing new heads, but kind of tired of a black car, so i figure its enough of an excuse to get a nice Arctic White ZR

Plus i love the low end torque of a pd blower, if the black wasnt such a pita to keep clean, heads/cam etc would be done.

What is the vibration issue?

Police are already an issue with my Z06, i will have to be careful.

I last had a black car in high school 20 years ago and swore that I'd never have another... but... but...

Black is the most beautiful color that "someone else" can own.

I thought that... and still do... Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy.

Luckily I know a really good detailer, reasonably priced, who got the car whipped into shape for me. Now, all I have to do is maintain it.
