Default Go from a modded C6 Z06 to C6 ZR-1.???

I have a nicely modded H/C/I/E/N2O 08 Z06. My Z runs low tens on motor, and pretty sure it can do mid 9s on spray. I'm thinking about trading it in on a bone stock 10 ZR1? Trying to get some input from someone that was in my shoes, and still pulled the trigger on a ZR1

Mine hasnt even been delivered yet but... I think ZR1 will hold its value night and day different from 08 Z06, look at production numbers

I would do it. Are you looking for a ZR1 to mod all over again or for something unique? Don't see a lot of ZR1s around. Where are you located?

I think so too, I seen them go for mid $60K with 10K miles.

Looking to mod eventually. In this lifestyle your never content with what you got, so looking to mod it down the line.

I ve had both and love both cars .For the Zr1 to keep value its better to be a low mileage unmolested car.If you just want to go fast keep the Z06 and mod it some more.A modded Zr1 is fun too just that it will suffer in resale value. If you keep it long term then it really doesnt matter.Hope i didnt confuse you half as much as i confused myself .Lol

lol....I think i got ya. I definitely want to mod it and go fast. I defnitely dont want to make payments and let it be a garage queen. I just like the fact it can hold 900rwhp with no problem, even though that'll be hard to hook up on the track.

I love my ZR1 but if big horsepower is what you seek, for straight line racing, I'd have someone put a turbo on the modded ZO6 and crush the ZR1 numbers. My car is currently in the shop for another round of mods and I expect it to be mid 700's on E85 when it comes back, which is about all I'm comfortable putting out with a road course car and my driving capabilities. I don't do any drag racing, 1/2 mile or mile events. KP Racing here in Houston, who has my car, just put down north of 2000 horsepower with Kelly Bise's C6 ZO6, turbo'd.

I have also owned 2 C6Z06's one modded and one stock. I loved both of them, but the ZR1 is a notch higher to me. As mentioned earlier you don't see many around. Some of my favorite things about the ZR1 are the transmission ratios, the supercharger sound, and the brakes. Mine is modded so the power is incredible too. Good luck whichever way you go!

Agree with some of others, love the ZR I have now but for modding I'd keep your Z06. For road course my heavily modded Z06 was much better. For investment or value preservation the ZR (unmolested) has a better shot based on production numbers etc. The ZR is more refined and faster of course out of the box in a straight line, but with the LS7 you've got more potential to build on based on size, but not originally forged. Both great cars

I went from this:

To this:

Love both cars as they are both incredible in many ways. The Z06 had ported heads, cam, long tubes and was running on E85. The car was angry and a lot of fun but could be a real pain on a road trip.

The ZR1 has similar power to my Z06, is more refined and more simple to maintain.

In my opinion, you can't go wrong either way, but you will miss the modded Z06 if you go to a ZR1 and don't modify it.

Also, I didn't lose very much on my Z06 ($4K) when I sold it after 4.5 years of ownership. In 2 years of owning my 2010 ZR1, I've lost atleast 15K so far. Not that owning cars like these is about resale.. Good luck with your choice!

Nick

I agree with the others, for what you want I would keep the Z06, it makes more sense.

I posted a thread about this subject sometime back. I think it's called my journey from z06 to zr1. Worth reading.
