And I certainly didn't intend for this to be a ZR1 vs Z/28 post in the sense that, "One is better than the other." I pointed out some things that I think the Z/28 does better. There are things the ZR1 does better. Our love for our cars is oftentimes subjective, which we all understand. The ZR1 was my absolute dream car when it came out in 2009. Then the Z/28 came out in 2014 and it really struck a chord with me.......I want both.......

I owned a ZR1 previously and love the Z28. I can fully understand the transition. Good read on the OP as well.

Both are sweet but Vette over a Camaro any day. Get back into one if you can!
Your avatar describes your position 100%...But, in reality, the Z/28 eclipses the C6 Z06/ZR1 on many levels:

1. Recaro Seats. Enough Said.
2. Turning Radius - MUCH easier to drive daily
3. Dash (NAV in C6 is lame)
4. 4 seats
5. Better gear ratio and transmission synchronization with LS7
6. Square tires - hooks up much better on a road course than any staggered combination

*I had a SSB 2011 Carbon Edition Z06 for 3 years - sold it after buying Z28 as I thought it truly was much better car overall than the Carbon.

*15K in mods and the ZR1 would have trouble.

I figured this might degrade, unfortunately, into a "one is better than the other". I've owned a ZR1, now a Z/28......they're different but awesome in their own way. Those that have driven both (for more than a test drive) know the truth. I'll figure out a way to have both in my garage someday!!

Not really morphing into that kind of debate, just different people pointing out pros and cons of both cars. Since this is a specific C6 ZR1 section on the Corvette Forum, no one on here is going to say anything negative about their beloved ZR1's - which is understandable.

But this doesn't diminish that there ARE CARS OUT THERE, including the Gen 5 Z28, that legitimately do things better than the ZR1 - I never mentioned that the Z/28 was downright better than the ZR1. That being said, I think the ZR1 conquers the Z28 on several categories:

1. HP/Weight Ratio
2. Top End Speed is (EVERYONE knows this car can go 195-205mph)
3. Owns the "America's Sports Car' badge
4. Iconic/Prestige
5. Historically a more 'sought-after' car over any Camaro.
6. Owns the "most-bang-for-your-buck sports car" badge.

The ZR1 is 2009 technology while the Z28 is 2014 technology; hence, the Z28 SHOULD be better in certain areas - and the main one being its suspension. Z28's multimatic suspension is just hands down better than the ZR1's, period.

All cars have there + and - ....all of them.

Just to put a nice neat bow on all this.....I freakin LOVE the ZR1! I am as much of a fan as anyone on this forum, which is why I keep loitering here even though I no longer own one.
That is why I eventually have to get another one.

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I would really like to own a ZR1, but not going to give up my C6Z to get one - like it to much, and have owned it less than a year. Always nice to have a dream car even if you've already got your dream car. There's always another one. From a performance standpoint, I don't think there is much difference here since I have modded my Z to put down 525rwhp. But you can always do some bolt-ons, tune, and pulley to the ZR1 and it will be a monster. And the nice thing about the ZR1 is that when modded, it still drives like stock. A big cam in a C6Z - not so much.

So as a final post for this thread, here's my Z/28 with all the visual mods complete. Solar Wing on rear window, black gill slits on the rear side quarters (hard to see), and white lettering on the tires (I replaced the stock Trofeos that were 305s on all four corners with Michelin Pilot Super Sports, 305 front and 325 rear). Maybe a little too NASCAR, but I like it..... I actually thought about putting white letters on my ZR1, but I don't think it really fits the car.....

Anyhow, I will continue to follow this forum. I'm on it daily, because I still love the ZR1 and as I've mentioned numerous times, I really want another one some day. Plus, all of you have been really cool so thank you! I really like the Corvette community, so until I join your very elite club again someday, take care!

I also have a 2015 Z/28. I love the car as much as my ZR1 and Z06s'.

It is a awesome car that has a back seat!

I sat in a new Camaro a year ago and I was turned off by the poor visibility. I think the new ZL1 with the LT4 is sort of interesting though and that one would probably give the ZR1 a run for it's money. But the problem with the Camaro is the weight difference. My dream car is still the ZR1 and maybe I will get one these days. Will see where the value goes on them over the next few years. I saw a red one yesterday and it was so sharp. You just don't see them very often and I like the exclusivity of the car.

i went from SS to Z06, and i have to agree with your comparisons, the camaro is by far the better drivers car, with more visceral experience. i felt one with the camaro, the z06 i just feel like im guiding it
(both are my road race track cars)
also the sound of the camaro was much better like you said.
