Get one of each. I like that the Z06 is available in a convertible and with an A8. It is quite a bit different than driving my ZR1, but both are a lot of fun.
To answer your question about years to be wary of, my answer is no. I have a 2009 and have no complaints.

Since it was brought up, this is certainly not about being on a budget as it will be parked next to my cheap base model Lamborghini surrounded by Ducati and MV Agustas when not being driven. And about the time my new house and shop/man cave is finished, a 2018 ZR1 will be in there as well. I am blessed and fortunate to have an eight figure bank account.
Now that that is out of the way, back to answering the original question.

If you really have that much money...why don't you just get both? Is a combined $160k really that much of an expenditure with an "8 figure bank account?"

Hello all,
I have been away from the forum for a bit after I sold my C6 to buy a C7 and after it was released, I really did not like the C7.
Fast Forward to now...I am deciding between a ZR1 and a ZO6. Found a 1710 mile Cyber Gray 2009 ZR1 for $62k and sub 8k mile newer versions in the higher $60's range. Are there any years I should be weary of due to problems?
Other option is a newer used ZO6. I have seen real nice low mile versions in the high $60's/low $70's. Price ranges are about the same so that is not an issue. If I found an Indigo Orange ZR1, I would be sold. I am just unsure mainly because the ZR1 **** pit will be very similar to my old modded C6.
Thoughts, opinions or any idea where I can find the unicorn IO ZR1 with low miles??
I am a used car dealer so I have access to lots of auctions and can purchase nation-wide.

To answer the above, I dona few different things. I am a real estate investor so I have groups who flip houses and invest in commercial real estate. I have a used car dealership, i loan money in short increments to help folks fund rehabs and such, i do some speaking events and we have a staffing agency. There are other things I do, but those are the main ones and being a real estate investor is the biggest source.

The link didn't stick, but I did see that post a few days ago. Unfortunately it was posted in 2015 and although I tried buying from the new owner, it appears the car is not for sale.

I, too, recently went through this dilemma. My wife really wanted me to get into the c7z, but the ZR1 is just a cooler car. Performance between the two is close enough that it doesn't matter.

Yes, time is certainly more valuable than money. But money is also there because I still save where I can. And part of it is my little break is enjoying the search. But yes, youbare right, why keep looking. I found one in Texas and am wiringbthe money over today. 8k miles completely stock.

I researched the thought on this before I picked up my 2013 Zr1. The overall fact of production numbers really drove me away from the c7. I have only seen one other zr1 the entire time I have lived in my town..I see a c7Z every day. I'm hoping the value of this car goes back up after time, such as the Ford GT.
Get a ZR1, and don't look back.

Nice! Yes, I am picking it up Saturday morning...flying in and driving it back to Dallas. I will drive it as much as time will allow, but also adding a used Ferrari to the stable and that will be my daily until the wheels fall off. I will try to keep the miles lower on the Z so it can last next to the C7 ZR1 or whatever it is called.

I live in the Dallas area and saw a ZR1 a couple of weeks ago - first one spotted in a long time. I see C7Zs all the time. A great buy on a ZR1 cam up in my area a few months ago on a black 2009 ZR1 with 1,745 miles on it, one owner in perfect condition. He was asking $69,500 for it and I thought long and hard, but just didn't have the extra cash lying around. But someone got a gorgeous car. I got back and forth between the ZR1 and the C7Z, but hard to get past the cool factor of the C6 ZR1.

I would start by reading about the overheating issues and the under engineered cooling system on the C7Z for even stock power levels . Its the only real down side to the car. Tikt performance has the fix. Tikt performance C7Z's look straight badass. Many new C7 ZR1 parts should bolt right up if they ever release it which could make it a potent package once the cooling is set up.
Tikt has engineered the best cooling fix for the Zr1's as well if you have the cash and do not mind modifying the bumper. Thats the way I want to go. Here are some shots.

to the comment in bold...
F Y I heavy discounting of new C6 ZR1s at dealers started around mid-2010 and continued right until the end of the model run...wasn't uncommon to see discounts from MSRP of 15%--20% (or a bit more)...all had to do with the state of the economy.

When I was deciding between C7Z and C6ZR1, all I had to do was sit in the M7 version of the C7Z and it was a no brainer at 6'5". Taller guys with broader shoulders don't fit as well in the C7.
Plus - the ZR1 is still the "king of the hill". It turns heads wherever you go.

I'm not a fan of the C7. Just not my style. I vote for the ZR1. I thought about a C7Z or GS because of the performance and I'd already had a C6Z but decided to go a different route and went with a GT350.
