Default Gutting cats on kooks 3x3 X pipe

I'm picking up a ZR1 that currently has Kooks 1 7/8th headers, 3x3 catted X pipe, and corsa sport exhaust. I've read horror stories about the cats melting once you start running more boost and causing issues. So the question is should I just gut the cats and if so how should I go about it properly? Or fork out $500 for an off road x pipe?

Get the off road X-Pipe. It's a ZR1. Do it right.

^ Agreed. Buy the proper off-road X-pipe; list the catted one in the classifieds to offset the cost of the new one, and someone with a C6Z/ZR1 will eventually ****** it up. That or post up in there and offer a trade...yours for a non-catted pipe.
