bad idea, keep your $$ at home, the dam banks are gonna rob you soon, they don't give any interest anyways!

I think most of the first year C7's are going to be highly optioned cars. I doubt you will see many 52k stripped C7's for a while.

To say you can buy a C7 for 52k therefore everybody's Z06's are overpriced is not very realistic. IMO

If you like a car, make an offer. That is what I did and it worked. You can bitch and moan all you want, but you will never get a Corvette that way. If you are so tight that a thousand or two on a $40k car makes the difference, you should be looking at Corollas instead.

That's my approach also. I find a car, get a figure in mind and see of we can hammer out a price that pleases both of us; mostly me of course. I won't deal with a place/owner that has a figure set in stone and won't negotiate. Everything should be negotiable up to a point.

I just got on craigslist and saw 09 c6s listed for 40s. That is hilarious. Most people dont look at the fact a 0 mile 13 is selling for less....hahahaha

They must be celebrities and them possessing the car added value. I will never figure it out.

No DCT, not sure where you got that from, take a look on the C7 section, you can't throw a rock in there without the DCT / AWD guys ruining a thread.

I had my CTS-V for sale for 8 months before someone paid anywhere close to my asking price, I dealt with probably 1 guy a week who needed to know every detail about my car and then finally when we agreed on a price he would go to a bank and realize the bank won't give him 100% of the money... it doesn't matter whether you sell $50k cars or $18k cars, people try to stretch their budgets on toys.

I now have an empty garage stall and a pocket full of cash. Once I get a few things settled in my personal life I'll be trying to give $40k to the first person to accept it. I hope the car I keep fantasizing about is still available.

Jay
C6 base is rated at 430hp so modest 10%+43hp gain wouldn't be out of the question especially with direct injection variable valve. Chevy may under rate the hp due to other versions coming out but we all have to wait and see.

You have me on the DCT. Last time I check, the rumor was that it was going to available but recent info say other.

As for the weight increase, I welcome it since it comes with so much more technologies and better interior. Most vette owners can offset the weight increase by decreasing visits to McDonlad.

Sure you can get a base one for 52k (most will add something extra). You my not be able to walk onto the lot and drive away, but there are several forum and non forum dealership willing to order to your spec without the premium.

Exactly what I was thinking. Why even start a thread about it?

Can't argue with the free market: if no one will sell a used Z06 to you for less than its weight in gold (which means that is the price they can get for it from someone else), then - by definition - that is the actual value of the car, even if a brand new one is cheaper.

I think most go for less than asking.

I have held off on buying one not because I could not afford it but the general asking prices are too high for the market. Been looking for about 2 months now.

When I bought my last Corvette it was very highly optioned, lots of work done to it, well done. I paid 12K under the asking price.

Z06 prices are all over the map. 05's and 06's seem to be much more realistic price wise and 08's are getting there but people asking in the mid to high 30's for an 08 is high for the market.

Everything on Autotrader is less expensive than here.

What truly puzzles me is the cheerleaders on here who never intend to purchase a care. Odd place to hang out, the for sale section

What I do think will happen, and I've already seen a few, you will get a few people who advertise their cars real value and that will start pushing them all down.

If you want one- wait until August- c7 buyers that trade in will have dealers selling C6Z's in the 30's- that will set the new market.

Guess with that logic it will drive the low mileage C5 Z06's even the 2004 CE's Z06's to less then $20,000.

I don't see any reason why the C7 would affect the C6Z06 market.

Lol......good, decent priced cars are out there. I picked up a MINT 08z with less than 8k miles for 41.5. You need to be patient, and be ready to buy the instant one comes up.

It's not rocket science. Your (our) depreciable asset is worth as much as the market is willing to bear at any given time. Although there are many who add unrealistic values to mods and customizing; IMO there is little residual resale value in that if any.

If you want to lowball, have your cash in hand, as the seller will then take you more seriously. If you're a seller who's handed a fist full of dollars, be assured the buyer has another pocket full of cash to close the deal.

And if you have a black centennial ZR1 you're looking to part with, I want to talk to you
