GM Vehicle Build Out Schedule 2004/ 2005
Gentlemen & Ladies,
This is fresh off the press.

Sold Order Cut off Date - N/A
Final 2004 Production Date - July 2
VTZO6C - Corvette Commemorative Edition ZO6
Calendar Month for Buildout Concensus - April
Concensus Production Period - May 17 - June 11
Final Allocation on Web - April 21
Buildout Cycles - Initial -April 22 - Final - May 13
Sold Order Cut off Date - N/A
Final 2004 Production Date - JUne 11
MODEL YEAR 2005
VET ALLOCATION GROUP - Corvette Coupe/convertible/Hardtop
Calendar Month for Buildout Concensus - May
Concensus Production Period - July 19 - August 1
Final Allocation on Web - May 19
Initial 2005 DOSP Cycle Begins - June 3
2005 START UP DATE - JULY 19
For all those trying to figure out the schedule. Here it is. The initial start up still consist of the coupe only as near as I can tell based on previous communication from GM. The allocation group VET will encompass the three models described above but that does not mean that all three models will be available immediately. The models will still be subject to stated constraint issues.
Hope this helps clear things up as to when the initial 2005s will be build.
May you all have a Great Day.

Actually, it does not clear it up. I have in front of me, a download of the official C6 "2005 Corvette Initial Ordering Workbook" that just came out this week. On the first page (after the pages with pictures only) it shows the "Start of Production (Coupe and Convertible) next to the month of July. This implies to me they will begin product of both withing the month of July.
I hope this is true

Re: GM Vehicle Build Out Schedule 2004/ 2005 (jschindler)
In response jschindler, I am familiar with what you are referring to and I do expect GM to put out the pricing for the coupe and the convertible at the same time as well as allow us to order the coupe and the convertible in the initial orders that we will be inputting into the VOMS system the end of this month and the first part of May. However, that does not mean that the allocations for the convertibles will not necessarily be on constraint until the fourth quarter since GM indicated in a previous administrative message that they would not be available until fourth quarter. I know that my customers as well as myself would be estatic for GM to start the production of both models in July but I am not going to get my customers hopes up until the allocations begin to show up in our ordering system and I can confirm that GM has truly gotten their act together and realized that introducing the convertible just before winter is not a good marketing tool. We will not know if the 1YY67 is on constraint nationally until the very first week that we get our allocations in the system. Only then can we intellegently answer whether the coupe and convertible will be available to us at the same time.
We can only do what they allow us to do. I am hopeful that they will see the light and realize that the convertible needs to become available at the same time as the coupe but we can only report on what we have been told in the past. Hey, if it happens then there are going to be a lot of happy C6 owners. There have been too many times over the past two years that me and GM's marketing have not agreed with the way that they are doing things but they were still done in that fashion. So as far as my customers go, I am entering everyone that has a deposit in house into the Vehicle Order Management system in May so that they will still be in proper order in the event that GM does begin production of both models in July.
Thanks for your comments.

Re: GM Vehicle Build Out Schedule 2004/ 2005 (jschindler)
Just to insure that I am not misleading anyone on the issue of the beginning of the build for the convertible, I went back and reviewed the Ordering Workbook that both of us received. While page four does indicate that the start of production of the coupe and convertible is scheduled for July under the "CORVETTE LAUNCH TIMING" schedule; I also would like to quote from page 2 of the Order guide:
"REMINDER:
Corvette Convertible production will begin shortly after the July Coupe SOP. Early production levels will favor Coupes, with the Convertible ramping up at a slower pace."
Who of us can interpret that correctly. As I previously stated, we will only know exactly when the convertible will start when our allocations show up and if there is no constraint on the convertible, then it will be able to order when we recieve our allocations. Remember that the above information also combined the coupe/convertible/and the ZO6 under the VET allocation group similar to this year.
Lets all keep our fingers crossed.

Well,
I ordered the last of my 04 Allocations today so what you see is what you get.
Please reveiew my inventory when you have a chance if you are still considering a C5.
Otherwise, it is time to move on to the possibility of ordering a C6.

Just pulled a June Report and it appears that the first of the C6 allocations will be available for online placement on 6-10-04.
