I would think M/T's in a "wide size' would be the best!

MT 295 45 17 Very Best
MT 305 35 18 Verry Good
Bfgs and Nitto 18" DR's Good
PCA 285 35 19 Good similar to a Nitto DR in compound

Do a search on sticky tire theres info and pics

I´m planing to use 19"x12" Z06 rims. I would go with 18"x12" Z06 if I cuold find such wheels.

I run my stock Z06 wheels with 345 Hoosier R6's on the rear. I also like running through the twisties and have the same tire (but in a 285) on the front of the car ( I actually run the Hoosiers on all of my Z06's from mild to wild).

I can put down 8-9 PSI (750-800 RWHP) in second gear and up on a 70 degree (or warmer) day with these tires. (Of course you have to heat them up a little before they become glue-like but this is not really ever a problem for me.... I just stab it once in first and then they are ready to take just about whatever I throw at them in second.. And of course if the roads are wet this won't work out to well.. I'm talking normal dry warm conditions....)

The R6 IS the tire for you if you are keeping stock wheel sizes, like the car to handle like it's on rails, don't have to drive it in the rain (these tires are NOT good in the rain - not at all), and if you have an insane amount of HP. It just HOOKS and GOES. It's very very brutal.

Good luck and let us know what you choose!!

Like these 345/30/18 BFG DR's

With the lower end of your power level you could run a 345/30/19 Nitto Invo they fit great on stock Z wheels.

Did you look at the Pirelli PZero Corsa Asimmetricos? That will be the best 19" option.

I use to use BFG DR on 2002 Z06 425 RWHP I did change to Nitto 01 after I worn out the DR. The BFG DR gives much more grip. Has anyone compared BFG DR to Hoosier R6´s. The claimant in Iceland is cold 10-15 degree C. so road temp is lo

You don't have the Z brakes, do you? I'm looking for a set of 18x12" that will clear my Z brales too

**Edit**- that's not your car is it? Thought it was, sorry-

Pilot Cups don't offer any more straight line traction than regular street tires at normal temps. The Hoosiers have alot more grip than street tires even when cold. RE050s have a little better cold grip than the other compareable street tires. They will be gone in one day though if you ever track the car with them.

I run grooved Hoosiers on my car. It puts down 700RWTQ with twin turbos. It can almost hook second gear although the tires are 2 years old now. When they were new it hooked second gear pretty well.

Wish I could use those R6's for my car. But I do get caught in the rain on the highway sometimes. How effective is the grooving? And how much does that cost?

Can't speak to grooves. Never had it done. I don't think it costs much (maybe $20 per tire?) to have tire rack do it. Again, I'll defer this question to someone who "knows" because I haven't ever bought them grooved.

I'm running 18x13 CCW's with BFG 345 DR's and my business partner is running 18x13 Forgelines with the same tire and they clear the breaks just fine.

I also ran 18x10.5" repro Z06 wheels last year and those also fit over the breaks fine. The downside to running the 18x10.5" rims I used last year or just having a set of stock 18" rims widened is that there is more to it then that. If you notice the backspacing(or maybe it's front spacing?) on you back rims are different then your front rims. To make a set of stock front rims wide enough to fit a 345, you'd probably have to mini tub the car in addition to the fact the rims still wouldn't fit well with the wide body kit as a lot of the stock back rims width is on the outside of the rim. Hard to explain, as I don't know the "rim/tire" terms very well.

I had no intentions on buying a set of aftermarket rims as I'm pretty happy with the stock rims look. However, widening a set of stock fronts wont look right on the car, so I had no choice but get an aftermarket set of rims so i could run a 345 DR.

Can you post some pics of that 345 on that 13" CCW rim.
By itself and on the vette. This is what my plans are but maybe with the M/T 345 when I can get my hands on a set.

thanks.

My car is at the shop right now getting everything that moves inside of it replaced(motor, tranny, rearend, torque tube, etc..), so I wont be able to get pictures for another 2-3 weeks while they finish the build.

They are the same SP500's your running(btw congrats! on getting the car into GMHTP) and I sent them off to get chromed, so I didn't have to worry about polishing, as that would have made me go The Chrome job looks awesome and I really couldn't be happier with the look. My only concern about the 345 MT's when the become available is that they are taller then the stock tires and I worry they will rub the inner finders. Regardless, I'll be trying a set, to find out. I like BFG's but I think the MT will hook better.

As soon as I get the car back, I'm going to take a ton of pictures and post up the build on here and of course some dyno numbers.

The grooving gets done by a race tire supplier. Roger Krause racing did mine and pretty much everyone else has used them. Their pattern is nice. This is how racers make a racing intermediate or rain tire if there is not a precut tire already available. They work fine for me in my aplication. If I didn't have twin turbos I wouldn't use them though.
