Default Let's play the what broke game

I may have blown my motor on the way to work tonight. Or the blower seized. Or the ECU took a crap. Car fell on its face around 5000rpm and just died. My battery did leak out and leave a puddle under the car a month ago and the ECU is under the battery. Great spot GM. Car cranks over, but slower than usual. No weird noises and no hole in the oil pan or block. Almost acts like when my old Evo blew a hose off. But that doesn't explain the slow cranking and not starting. At work tonight and it's already been towed to the shop I use. Plugs will get pulled tomorrow and other diagnostic stuff done. One of Unreal's friends thinks my blower seized. If it's that I guess we shall see what a YSi does on a stock bottom end LS3.

The weird boost spiking was up to 224kpa. My normal max boost is 185kpa.

Hope it's not blown, Jon, but you were about to forge it, right?

Yup. I get a federal and state refund along my yearly bonus from work coming at the end of this month. My wife isn't too happy about it though, lol. If it is the motor I'm hoping the block is okay. Then I'll just do some Callies Compstar 6.100" rods and .005" over Wiseco pistons. I actually have a line on a brand new set of those Callies rods for $550 from a guy on a Facebook group I belong to. He just advertised them today, lol. If it's the blower I'm just going to send it in to Vortech for a rebuild and Ti trim upgrade. If the whole blower is junk I'll probably just spring for a YSi.

Really hope it's nothing serious. I always read your posts with interest, but at the same time thought how you seemed to be pushing the limits on a stock short block.
Nothing wrong with that. I think it great to see.
Keep us posted and good luck.

The last 25% of that log looks pretty ugly. Lots of added timing, while the fuel seriously leans out during heavy throttle command and the car is making boost.

Symptoms of something being out of range. Hopefully the damage, if any, is minor.

Sorry to see this happened. I hope it is not something major.

No weird noises, no fluids, no bang. If the motor did die I bet it is something that won't be hard to rebuild. Whatever let go was right before the log went crazy.

Let me know if you need help.

Any codes? Maybe a missfire code?

On a limb but I'm going to say broken valve spring. Usually kills the car pretty quick and would account for boost (or our measure of resistance) shooting up higher than normal. Also slow crank and poor/no start. If so here's hoping it managed to keep the valve out of the piston.

That would be great if was just a broken spring, but I have broken some and the car would still start and run I am sure.

I've seen both ways. In my V it would fire with the broken spring but never really catch and run.

Man hope it's minor but in this hobby atleast you are prepared to fix it and come back stronger if it's hurt bad.

Plugs are perfect, it's getting fuel pressure, and it has spark. Loosened the blower belt tensioner and turned the blower and the motor over by hand. Didn't notice and weird noises. Still won't fire. I have no codes either. Would a failed MAF, cam position sensor, or crank sensor do this? Next step is taking off valve covers to see if the cam spins while cranking.

A failed MAF could cause an issue if the car is tuned MAF only and the VVE was left stock, but I suspect the issue is more serious given the power you were making.

How did it spin over with the starter with the plugs out?

Did you check compression. Timing chain a decent guess, although guessing is really a bit futile..
