Default Love for the MP112

I don't know how old this post is, or how "scientific" the test was, but I thought the older MP112 owners would love this:

If I'm reading this right, they are saying the MP112 is has more tq under the curve than the MP122. Is that right? The TVS1900 + 2300 weren't mentioned, but does the MP112 have more tq under the curve than these 2 also? Or am I reading this wrong? For a bolt on units only that is....

In other words, stictly speaking of bolting on these superchargers and then leaving everything else alone, without getting into forged engines or other upgrades to get more than 8lbs (or so/) of boost....does the MP112 come close to, or surpass the performance of the MP122, TVS1900, and TVS2300?

Did you notice the test was done on a 5.3L truck motor? The 112 will do an excellent job on a stock 5.3. Not so good on your LS2. Don't you have a bigger than stock cam also? If so, you'll be doing good to see 6psi with a 112 on your LS2. If that's all you're looking for, and you can live with the high IAT's, go for it. Personally, I woundn't use a 112 on an LS2 even if someone gave it to me.

If all you are looking for is 500-550 RWHP, then a little 112 will do you just fine. I dont have any first hand experience with one on a vette, but I did have one on my GTO. I have seen numerous LS2 GTO's with over 500 rwhp on just a little 112. But if you are looking for more, then the 1900 or 2300 TVS will be what you need.(if you are looking to go roots type)

I've had one on my Vette for over 4 years now and it's been flawless!!!!
Yes there are different blowers out there, but I love the look of the 112 and it's got Me plenty of power and massive torque!!

I had a MP122 on the H/C LS1 that was in my '67 Camaro. I did a lot of research before I bought it (this was back in early 2007). This was well before the TVS systems were available. I ended up making 543 rwhp and 516 rwtq.

The 112 will run out of breath fairly quickly, but it has a flatter boost-curve than the 122. From what I found on my own car and other mp122 dyno results, the 122 will "ramp up" as the revs increase. Nothing like a centri blower, but mine would probably jump up to 7 or 8 psi at 3000 rpm and gradually increase to my peak of 11.65 by the time we ended the dyno pull around 6300 rpm.

Most 112 dyno pulls I looked at made peak boost very low in the powerband, and held it. Made for very good low-end torque and probably more power "under the curve" than a 122 on a stock 5.3-5.7 engine. So the results you posted are no surprise to me. For someone looking to make over 500 rwhp, the 122 is the clear winner in my opinon.

If I was to buy another PD blower today, it would only be one of the TVS blowers or maybe a twin-screw. The 1900 and 2300 TVS are way ahead of the older Eaton blowers in terms of efficiency and power.

Andy
